timlan2057, I can't verify nor deny that story. I would be disappointed if it isn't an actual "Mike" though.

Are you talking about the tiger at RK?

Man, that one could almost go on badtaxidermy.com.

I'm sure, in this case, Wikipedia is dependable regarding Uga:

" Deceased Ugas are interred in a mausoleum near the main entrance at the southwest corner of Sanford Stadium. A bronze plaque describing each dog's tenure and including an epitaph is engraved in front of each tomb. The tomb's original location was at the east end of Sanford Stadium, and Ugas I and II were originally buried there. Prior to its 1981 enclosure, the University moved the Uga graves to the west end. When the west endzone was enclosed in 1992, the Ugas were entombed in their current resting place, and a bronze, life-sized statue representing Uga was placed in front of the mausoleum."

Texas A & M buries Reveille outside of their stadium and has a small scoreboard because the new addition to their stadium blocked their view of the scoreboard.

Part of our problem is the space it would take up, since Mike is so much bigger than the collie or bulldog.

Wait, we still have a "live" tiger. I hadn't seen him at the games. I thought that was just an urban legend.

Understood. My suggestion would be to cremate them. The urns would take up a lot less space. And if not an actual mausoleum, put them in the ground in vaults over somewhere by the plaques honoring past LSU football teams.

I'm on board with some kind of memorial. I think it would be a nice touch.

We should bury Mike in the old Micmac Indian cemetery out past the pet cemetery.

the aggies do this with their dogs and even have a scoreboard set up facing the cemetery for the dead dogs to know the score of the game

This is some of the dumbest shite I have ever heard. What a waste of money. I can hear aggies now about their live collie.. "Why isn't Reveille paying attention to the game or checking the score?"

As was posted earlier, they actually built an additional score board. It was tradition to bury them so they could see the stadium score board, but when they were in the process of doing one of their expansions, they realized that it would block the view for the dead dogs.

There was quite a bit of angst about it at the time, they even discussed digging them up and moving them. I'm actually surprised that they didn't just scrap the whole project.

And to the poster who brought up Ralphie at CU, the college mascot hierarchy is:

1. Mike the Tiger
2. Ralphie

3. Who cares about any of the others.

Cook them and put them in a Jambo for all at the game.

That way they live forever

Put it in the cage with piped in roaring noises...since we can't get the live one in on game day.
