This was the problem.
No need to destroy the program yet.

I would like to see the NCAA make changes to the ball, bat, or fence but, clearly that's out of our hands.

They could have used a lil help from someone to make adjustments.

Best record in LSU history, and nice recruiting class, so I think I will trust the coaching staff to evaluate the talent, and make adjustments and best use of what they see in practice.

makes for boring baseball or not.

The NCAA looks to care less about the popularity of the game and more about appearing to care about the safety of the players. The NCAA still has an 11.5 scholarship limit they've had since the stone age. That's how much they care about the player and the game. Boring.

That is why, for me, the popularity of girls softball has increased. At least until the NCAA can somehow find a way to ruin that to.

CPM needs to bite the bullet and bring in a talented and experienced hitting coach with MLB and/or Minor League experience to teach the finer nuances of hitting; just like he did with Alan Dunn and the pitching. Dunn is probably one of the Top Ten pitching coaches in college baseball. The same can't be said for the hitting coach, not even close. Mainieri is letting his personal feelings get in the way and the program is being short changed in that area. LSU Baseball deserves better.

Softball is also one of the reasons why baseball only gets 11.5 scholarships.

Same change has needed to be made for 3-4 years. It hasn't been made. Probably wont be.

I won't speak for everyone, but I don't think I'm alone in suggesting that the stupidly deep fences had a lot to do with that 0-24. Ibara alone had at least 3 shots that would have been homers in any other park (except possibly Hoover). And the ability to toss high fastballs with near-absolute impunity played right into the hands of UCLA's ace, which also played a huge role in the 0-24. If the NCAA changes nothing, I'd expect to see at least one team come into Omaha next year and throw nothing but high fastballs every single pitch of every single at bat of every single game. I'd give that strategy about a 75% chance of giving up less than 1 run per game for any team with a halfway decent enough defense to get to Omaha in the first place.

Some of y'all fail to understand that none of that matters at all. UCLA. And UNC played on the same field we did. Quit bitching about the field there is nothing our players could've done to change the dimensions. What they could've done is get their hands on top of the baseball or layoff on the fastballs out of the zone. Id love to see a number on how many of our pop ups wouldve been a ball if we had layed off.

We slumped hard and we made practically no adjustments at the plate. We didn't lose because of the new bats or the bigger field or the NCAA. We lost because UCLA and UNC played the game better than we did. End of story.

The best record LSU has ever had, beating the SEC champ to win the tourney, and making it to Omaha equates to the game having passed LSU by?

If you're not trolling, then you should stick to OT IM threads.

I called it what it is - softball.

UCLA is not some great baseball team. In fact, far from it. I stopped paying attention after all the shutouts by teams averaging 6-8 runs/game to 3rd rotation starters, but wasn't UCLA batting something like .133 and had yet to lose?

UCLA is winning because they play softball and TD Ameritrade rewards them. They weren't some juggernaut in the regular season.

What kind of numbers/production would we look for to know we've hired a top 10 hitting coach?

They won because they relied on good pitching and defense and scraped across runs when they had to have them.

We lost because damn near everyone on our team hit at least one pop up a game. We lost because 3 of our most important hitter went a combined 0-24.

I don't want to hear anything about ibbara's "should've been homeruns". We've had these bats for what? 3 years now. Everyone knows what they are and are not capable of by now.
Be disciplined at the plate and get your hands on top of the baseball and we blow both of those teams out and waltz into the championship series.

Quit whining like a little girl about shite that everyone else had to deal with as well.
