This is about the best interests of LSU for the long haul
It i s in our best interest to go11-0 rent-a-wins? bullshite. You and the other four assholes in TigerStadium for those games should be sure to change your tampaxes at halftime if the games are too close.

Ole Miss is out because they lost to UK and UF.
Bama is out because they lost to Vandy and OU.
OOC schedules are not the problem. The SEC was mediocre this year.

OOC scheduling should be done a season or 2 before at this point. Should the CFP committee make the matchups?

Who missed because of OOC scheduling?

No one missed but some made it. Indiana and SMU come to mind. They both benefitted from weak schedules.

Soooooo……we should move to the ACC? That’s what is at issue, not OOC scheduling.

will need to asses how many P4 non-conference games make sense in the future to put us in the best position to participate in the CFP
Ummm, could somebody remind these whiners that their THREE LOSSES WERE ALL IN CONFERENCE PLAY, not OOC games… FFS.

Bama’s AD is an embarrassment for us all.

Should LSU seek to cancel the Clemson game next year?"
That very well might turn out to be the biggest embarrassment of our 2025 College Football Season! Cancel the season opening game against Clemson-and at this late date no doubt.

I believe this was a rule for the 2024 season and going forward not a hard and fast rule.
I think you’re mistaken on this. It’s been a rule in the SEC for several years and AFAIK is not going away.
The Ole Miss AD alluded to this when Wake Forest cancelled the second half of their home/home series (less than a week before OM played @ Wake Forest this year). He talked about how difficult it was going to be for OM to find another P4 OOC opponent for next year, this late in the game.
I think the reality is that it’s likely too late for LSU to change anything next year. And they definitely aren’t going to drop the second half of their series considering it will be in BR.
I would rather play a strong OOC opponent, but it’s very clear that the CFP committee is still counting losses above all else. Yeah, they are adjusting for strength of conference. But it doesn’t appear that they’re paying enough attention to quality of wins to justify playing any 50/50 games intentionally. Texas had the easiest schedule in the SEC while Georgia had a top 3 schedule in the country and beat Texas head to head, yet 11-1 Texas was ranked above 10-2 Georgia.
People are focusing on OOC because that’s what we can control. I think the scheduling inequities in the SEC, in the absence of divisions, are a much larger issue. I’m not sure how the SEC fixes it, but it’s no coincidence that 2 of the 3 easiest SEC schedules are in the CFP while 2 of the 3 hardest SEC schedules are <.500.

Is this the thread where everyone who was making fun of Lincoln Riley for trying to get out of the LSU game before the season now says that LSU should pussy out of the Clemson game?
________
No, the complainers want it both ways.
I like a decent opponent in game 1 for 2 reasons. As a fan, it starts getting me excited much sooner and building the anticipation that comes with good games. For the team, it helps players prepare in the off-season with more focus. Players know the quality of the opponent. I get that we have failed in winning this game lately, but that doesn't change the reality that players get up more for big games than pushover ones.

Their conf schedules were weak, true. But their OOC games were weaker.
