Is he smarter to stay to end up a top pick next year? Or will the year risk too much?

If he runs well at the combine he will be a top pick.

People don’t just forget a year.

I don't think anyone knows what Key is thinking. If you remember he was torn about playing his junior year, then he had a shoulder injury and was way out of shape. Who knows? He was a 1st rounder prior to this year and because of his half out season, I don't see any NFL team paying him 1st round money. As a matter of fact, 2nd round money is a stretch. I'd take a chance on him in the 3rd.

He ain't staying, we all know that. Hell, he didn't show up this year outside a game or two. I can't imagine what his Sr year would be like.

GM's don't overlook qualities such as heart, pride, team player, etc....either

Lol. You say that as if it is fact. If I'm a gm I take a serious look at the substantial red flags, before dishing out top 10 pay

If key performs well at the combine he will be a top 20 pick based on what he has shown and his athleticism which is what teams tend to look for in the elite pass rushers.
.
I don't think he gains more than he risks.
If he gets hurt, has another mediocre year, or more personal issues it could hurt his status.

Also if he stays that is a year later that he can get to his second contract and potentially loses a year of earning power.

Why? He's going to be a high pick this season. He's a lock 1st round pick that could go pretty high in the first round based on his skill set and team needs for certain franchises. He wouod only he risking more injuries if he came back next year that could really hinder his career. It just too big of a risk. I get what you're saying, but at this point the risk of coming back and possibly getting injured and truly hurting his future outweighs the reward of him possibly moving up a few spots for next year's draft. I wish he was back for his senior year, but the smart move is to go now. It would be really stupid for him to come back next year. Guice as well. It's just their time to go. They're as ready for the nfl as they're gonna get imho and the same for their draft stock.

Yesterday, somebody had Key as the 9th pick in the first round.
