This is one of those threads where OP really needs to think, “is this really worth it?” before hitting submit.

Yes. That would have been an extremely smart play. I believe we were up six. A field goal ices it. Down the ball on the one; take three knees; then kick a field goal that is a 99.5% probability play. That would have iced the game. But I have to admit I wasn’t thinking that as Jefferson raced toward the goal line.

Or you have a bad snap on the field goal attempt, come away with nothing, and the sips score a touchdown as time expires.

Have you ever seen something like that done ever?

Umm absolutely. Todd Gurley did it twice last year to ice the game...one wasn't necessary but can be a good idea depending on the situation.

But in this game, no

Exactly.

In this case. “Bird in the hand..” You take what is given, which was seven points (we got 8). No freaking way you kneel it and take a chance of fumble or a kicker missing a field goal. And why am I still on this thread? So dumb.

I’m sorry you don’t have the ability to think “outside the box”. I am sure you are very successful in everything you do.

Only if you can end the game by kneeling on it.

Absolutely. WTF was Orgeron doing? Instead of hauling his arse down the sideline screaming at Jefferson to step O.B. at the 1 he was all excited about converting a 3rd-and-17 play into a game-clinching touchdown. WTF?

oops... I forgot to translate that for you. Here ya go:

WFT Orgeron? Haul that arse down there and get Jefferson down ing ball.

Exactly. I think they would've gotten the ball with a minute left with a chance to win it.

But it's a good idea in the right conditions

3rd and 17, we just took a huge sack and stadium was rocking. I was sitting in lower bowl on Texas side/endzone area and those fans were so fricking loud and cocky that they were going to win....after that TD, all the Texas fans around me felt like i had just gone in dry on them with my crutches and it felt damn good to see!!!! Made the struggle of getting in that game 10000% worth it!

Texas still had a timeout, but you can make that case... There would have been about 30 seconds left if LSU runs it twice and get a chip shot FG giving UT hardly any time but we could miss or botch the FG....

This works better when the other team doesn’t have a timeout left and there’s less than 2:27 left on the clock.

Who’s to say LSU makes the field goal. Texas would have a minute left down by 6 to win the game. And we saw they were more than capable of doing that.

Man LSU fans are retarded.

Miles would have run 3 dives and punted on that last series. It's not in a wr blood to take a knee and not score.

Not with 2 and a half left up by 6 and UT sitting on 2 timeouts (2 min).

The OP is wrong. You can’t even run out the clock there.

Yep. You down it on the 1 yard line if you're up 1 point and can run out the clock. Otherwise take the points.

Yes the smart play would of been to take a knee at 1. Texas calls timeout, last one with two minutes to play. Three straight kneel downs, take the fg. We are up 9 with 15 seconds left. Luckily UT receiving mishandled the onside kick or it might of been overtime
