Wasn't sold on him anyways by him not having any ties whatsoever to recruiting in areas where there is the most talent. And don't give me that crap about it's not a DCs job to recruit. That's BS our OC recruits so why does the DC get a pass. This was a ploy from the beginning for him to get more money. Shoop is very loyal to Franklin and why would he leave something he started to build. Sure he had a great defense this year with the schedule they played. PSU this year defensively would not be ranked 2nd if they played a SEC schedule. Some of you get excited over anything.

He has a history of having a very productive defense, mainly the secondary and has an aggressive approach that has proven to provide pressure and turnovers. He's a legit defensive coach. He has a great defense consistently, and part of that was in the SEC at Vandy.

Shoop without coach O would not have been attractive.

I'm curious by this. Pretty sure the SEC was overrated as hell this year. So maybe, just maybe his defense might have been able to do decent in this league. What offense would he have trouble stopping in the SEC this year?

Assuming you meant DC...

Can you tell me what experience our OC had recruiting the South before he was hired?

He doesn't, no one really does. As hard as it may be, we just have to wait it out and see who we end up with.

They played two offenses ranked in the top fifty or something like that.

Go look at Vandy's schedule during those years. Georgia and Arkansas ran all over Vandy. He would of been a downgrade to Chavis.

absolutely stupid

LSU recruits itself well, he is the best DC out there which would bring more wins than losses to LSU.. which brings in more recruits than you lose.

Think about it. You want a more qualified guy who knows xo's to adjust to teams and get wins. You don't want an idiot at DC and fall even further off the map.. plus Chavis was no recruiter.

You also don't understand he always had a top 25 defense at VANDERBILT.. they played SEC teams.. and even at PSU he took Ohio St to overtime and held them better than mighty Alabama.. when they had their better qb..

Everyone knew of Cam before he got here. Did you even know who Shoop was if not for Google? Why do you think the SEC is the best conference? We have the most talented players and have the big name coaches. Talent makes coaches and that's why I'm all in for Orgeron being on this staff regardless who LM hires as DC. VANDY playing in the SEC East a couple years ago does not compare to playing teams in the SEC West. So I guess you think VANDY under his leadership would be more effective against Bama than LSU did against them? Yea right

Good coaches can make it without talent. Like Shoop did at Vandy. And with a sanctioned roster at Penn St. Chavis just had young talent this year and his D was destroyed. He coached Vandys D to one of the best in the country. Vanderbilt.

Ever heard of the great coach Chris Petersen who coached at Boise State? Supposedly a great coach who won without talent. Well why didn't he win the PAC 12 conference his first year? The answer is he does not have the talent to win the PAC 12. Don't matter how good of a coach you are if you don't have talent and play in a conference with lots of talent you won't win the conference.

So, what you are saying, is that if Shoop jumped to LSU, he wouldn't have enough talent to be successful?

enjoy Brick Haley, i'm sure his DC will impress you.. especially the conference he did it in.. even though he's been far unimpressive coaching the DL of late
