Shep's biggest contributions have been his ability in space. Whether it's speed sweep/read option or bubble/tunnel screen etc.

What are offense lacks is stretching defenses from sideline to sideline. Most of our runs are up the middle. We need to attack them with wr screens IMO to loosen up the middle. RS is the guy to do that with.

your math sucks

whatever, point still stands, shep has been taking WR reps plenty long enough to have passed the so-called "transitional phase." Just think about guys that played quarterback all through college and turned into productive NFL receivers. Shep was a high school QB, his window to transition into a WR has lapsed IMO. I personally don't think he's being utilized properly based on what he does well tbqh

Just seems like another thread to pit one player against another and generate arguments, real progress here

His transitional period should be over by now IMO.

I agree totally!!

It's not like he drops em all!!

He should improve.

Will he? We'll have to see

I can't think of any. I hope you don't mean Eric Crouch and Matt Jones

agreed. Shep was money on these against Bama in 2009. he was getting 8-10 yards every time. We also did this with success against Auburn last yera, then dropped that play like it was hot, in true Gary Crowton style.

there have been some

Ronald Curry
Antwan Randle-El off hand

but Shep being coached up for 2 years by Bill Gonzales doesnt exactly rule out any more improvement

antoine randel el was pretty good for awhile. matt jones wasn't great, but he was more productive as an nfl receiver than RS has been as a college receiver. but there are PLENTY of high school quarterbacks that played option qb in high school, like RS, that excel in college and it doesn't take them 2+ years to transition

I love how people are holding up RR in this same thread where they are questioning RS. RR has had a few bad drops this year, as well as some rather suspect routes at times. Both of them will improve as the year goes on.

I like to think every WR on our roster can help us.

yes, but not a lot. he had almost 2k yards receiving in his career but did pass for over 400 yards in a bowl game once.

Shep is a baller, but he isn't a wide receiver. I hope we see him in more of a RB role. We had Holliday as a WR for 3 years before making him a RB. One of Gary's failures to utilize. Shep can do great things for us, Stud/Kragthorpe need to figure it out.
Pretty sure Randle played QB his senior year oh HS for those commenting on Shep transitioning.
OBJ will be great. He goes up and pulls the ball down then gets good yards after the catch like Early used to. And he seems more explosive than Early.

Shepard is better in the open field. He got a handoff and ripped off 12 yards like it was nothing. They need to find other ways to get him the ball.

This!!!

Shep has his place on this team; and God I hope he is used more to spread the field in upcoming games!!! OBjr. is a different type of WR than Shep and only makes us more dynamic.

OBjr33 is damn good for a freshman. This is a good problem to have,,, man it's good to be a tiger fan these days...

Trindon absolutely got most of his touches as a RB, but was listed as a WR from 2006 until the 2009 season when they switched him to RB. LINK
I don't know anything about football, but I would think that meant he practiced with the WRs, different drills than the RBs.

I only mentioned it because I think Shep's role should be more RB than WR.

IMO Holliday should have stayed at WR...
