I actually understand his concern with his weight. But this thing is vastly overblown for people their age.
VASTLY no college kid is gonna die from the rona. 50% of the deaths are from .6% of the population: nursing home residents.

Well considering he’s not playing in the NFL this season, this makes all of no sense...

The following post is not directed at the OP I am simply replying to the first post.
Rant On:
Some of you so-called LSU Football Fans are some low down and nasty motherfrickers. A young man who was a key component to our National Championship season last year made a personal decision and I see you call this man a pussy, lazy, selfish, etc. is simply uncalled for. This young man has simply made a decision that I am quite sure was a tough one to make. There is absolutely no need to bash any of our players because you do not agree with said decision. I have no clue about his health or what co-morbidities he may be looking at other than the weight issue. If he feels that COVID 19 is a threat then he is making the decision that he feels is best for him.
None of us know what the exact reasons he has and rightly so. What we, as fans, should be doing is supporting these athletes and their decisions without all of the trashing and name-calling. I hate to see any player opting out but I do understand that they feel the need to do it.
I agree that the hype surrounding the pandemic is unjustified but I can support anyone who decides to limit their exposure. If there is something nefarious going on within the team then we will hear about it sooner or later and we can discuss that once it becomes clear. I just think that trashing our players and team is not the way to go. I have seen the reactions here on the rant go way beyond what should be expected of LSU fans.
I know I am rambling now but since I am lying in a hospital bed tanked up on Demerol at the moment is at least a small excuse LOL. I just hate to see our fans bash players and coaches, hell even the whole program based upon rumor and innuendo. This thread should be deleted and the worst offenders need a time out from TD.
I will shut up now and if you don't agree then fine that is your right just as it is my right to say I don't really give a flying frick about your disagreement.

Stop acting like you don’t get my point. He wouldn’t be sitting the season if he were playing in the NFL because of Covid.

He’d be getting paid a lot of money to play, so it still isn’t a good comparison.

Shelvin's dad is a liar. The CDC shows very little risk from COVID-19 to young people.

So can a stroke, a heart attack, heat stroke during practice, pneumonia, the flu, etc. COVID is just another thing on the huge list. It's not the boogie man.

the line Ive heard lately is that sports are the reward of a functioning society. We dont have one of those atm.

Tyler will almost certainly be fine even if he does get COVID, and on one hand he's likely even safer than a normal student because he's in a structured environment that tests a lot, but travel for CFB is gonna be a disaster, theres no way to space out in a bus or plane for 6 hours. its about the exact thing you dont want.

on top of that, the whole world is scaled down for now, players cant live in the facility or practice field like theyre used to, support staff wont be what theyre used to. Stuff like that leads to mistakes. Mistakes lead to injury.

this wouldnt have been my choice if it was me or my kid, but its a valid stand.

The safest, healthiest & most profitable place for his son is in the LSU facility & playing football for LSU. Of course I have a brain.

It is too bad that they made such a decision based on lies by the government and media. Oh well.
