Dude was maybe the best player in the country that season. He wasn’t close to a flop. There have been plenty of flops in college basketball, but Ben was definitely not one.

Shaq has as many NCAA Championships as Simmons, despite playing with the most talented team in LSU history.. While at LSU, he would not pass to Jackson, who was wide open, MONEY!, and instead slam one off the backboard.
He has forgotten the number one rule of Dale Brown. It you point a finger at someone else. you have three pointing back at you.

Simmons doesn’t love basketball. He loves the money that comes along with it but he doesn’t actually love playing.

I remember watching the documentary about his time at LSU. He used to whine to his sister that people on campus stopped him to take pics and sign hats etc. He hated it. His sister was pissed off that they made him go to college as a one and done and that it was stupid. frick that dude

Yeah. Think about how different the perception is today versus then. You guys were all about protecting the LSU players that were accused of sexual assault by saying “the girls let them into their bed rooms and then said no the next day.” There are some seriously P&G defenders on here.

Shaq saying what everyone has been saying for years. Ben Simmons sucks and is weak as a wet paper bag.

Have never heard this about Shaq & Chris. Something this big of a knock against him would have gotten a lot more pub, then & especially now. I call BS.

I knew Simmons didn't have any mental strength when he passed up the game winning shot against Marquette, and then flat-out hid in the second half against Oklahoma, when both Brent Musburger and Dick Vitale were BEGGING him to engage.

Pathetic.

I think this is the honest truth.

I mean, the talent seemed to be generational. A 6-10 guy who could handle like that, with the athleticism he had, he should have been the next great superstar.

but as the year went on - and I watched every minute of every game he played here.....I kept wanting to say - just look at the stats. 20-10 and 5. Man, ain't many players in history can do that. But watching the games it was for me like.....yeah but, something is missing. The stats ain't matching what I'm seeing. I was just honestly a bit disappointed. He was never quite what I thought he could be with maybe 3-4 exceptions out of 30 games.

Then he and Quarterman had their little Alpha male pissing match and the whole team seemed to hate each other and it spiraled and CJJ absolutely had no clue how to handle it. It was one of if not the least enjoyable season I've ever witnessed and I've been a fan of LSU basketball for 50 years.

Someone had a tiktok that had the "Most unbelievable NBA shots" there was full court shots, a guy falling out of bounds from half court. But Number #1 was Ben Simmons hitting a wide open 10ft jumper.

I've always wondered if maybe he needs a really good sports psychologist.

That was always my thought. I think there were videos of him draining 3's in practices and which made me think it was a mental thing when he got into games, kinda like Jon Lester not being able to throw the ball to first base.

Could this be what motivated Shaq to say what he said?
