Mainieri fired the wromg coach! He needs/needed to fire the batting coach! I say batting coach because LSU hasn't had a hitting instructor in years! From Little League you're taught to take the BAT OFF YOUR SHOULDER AND SWING!! Not this team.

Well they are not ranked in the top 25. And if you're ranked 7 in the country you shouldn't be getting shut out by APP ST. I really don't care that much that they lost. I am more worried about the hitting. This was a problem last year and we are already showing signs that will be the same problem this year.

the hitting was a concern coming into the season and obviously still is. our pitching is outstanding and it's just one game. if we can just get some timely hitting we will be fine.

I understand. We have great starting pitching. I just hope we can get some timely hitting.

It's baseball. The better team doesn't always win

Partially true. To host a Super requires a top notch resume. If you just want to make post season, then dropping some of these is no big deal.

agreed. I don't know if hosting a super is a reasonable goal for this team with the lack of offense that we have. However they need to be hosting a regional this year without a doubt. then you get to a 2 out of 3 super against anyone on the road. with our starting 3 barring any injuries we will be in all 3 of those games.

So if they have been taught this since Little League shouldn't they know this already and not have to be told again.

To prove that a loss to a team like App State isn't the end of the world, I did some research...

In 1996, LSU lost to Dayton and twice to Northwestern

In 1997, LSU lost to UNO twice, ULM and ULL

In 2000, LSU got swept by Houston, lost twice to McNeese, and to Arizona St.

In 2009, LSU lost twice to Illinois, and once to ULL, Tulane, and Nicholls

And even though they did win the CWS, I looked up 2008 also, LSU lost to UNO twice, Indiana, Stetson, and SLU.

I couldn't find the results from '91 and '93...

Chill out people, it's baseball. You win some, and lose some

Hitting is awful. Outside of that one game vs Alcorn, it's just not happening even vs poor competition. No reason to panic but man, it has been disappointing.

we've had 3 games of 11, 10, and 19 runs

4 runs in the other 2 game.

it has our average at 8 runs per game.

I guess some people don't understand baseball at all, there is a reason you play a series every weeken instead of one game. The worse team wins in baseball ALL THE TIME, winning 100 games in the MLB is phenomenal, and that's only winning 61% of your games. A loss to an inferior opponent is not that big a deal, especially when a pitcher gets hot, doesn't matter if the teams bad if the pitcher is great you will struggle

I would definitely weigh that vs the competition. Last year, first 7 games the average was near 12 runs per game. Hopefully these guys will catch fire soon.

In five games so far against VMI and Elon, South Carolina has scored 2, 3, 13, 8 and 3 runs for an average of less than 6 runs per game. Just saying.
