When Brian Kelly was named head coach at LSU Nov. 30 he spoke about a sense of urgency leading up to the Dec. 15 early signing date. And yet his first in-home visit apparently will not occur until this Thursday, nine days later. By contrast, Nick Saban spend last week preparing his team to win the SEC title Saturday night and about 36 hours later, he was in Shreveport meeting with Kendrick Law.

Kelly also has yet to name a single assistant coach (other than his own son for an unspecified staff position). Orgeron's coaching staff is still meeting with prospects, but their own job uncertainty makes that a very difficult assignment.

Some progress must have been made thus far, but it would be nice to know what it is.

1. There is a process to follow to be certified to recruit for your new team.

2. Just hold your husband’s hand and calm down. You aren’t OWED information on the process.

You have no idea what Brian Kelly has been doing or how he has been spending his time. Just because you don't see any tangible results doesn't mean he hasn't been working his arse off.

Let him set his schedule, let him build his staff.........he has much more on the line than you do.

Hes not a great recruiter, we know this. He's not a dog on the recruiting trail. This is who we hired.

What's that process? Because apparently Billy Napier visited Quency Wiggins last Monday.

If Brian Kelly is prohibited by NCAA "certification" rules from recruiting for nine days after being hired, I stand corrected. Please provide some evidence.

I mean, this isn't true. He's consistently landed top classes at Notre Dame. Where do you think Saban's or Smart's classes would rank if they couldn't take kids who scored below 23 on the ACT?

OP raises legit questions, but your post is just plain inaccurate.

My post mimics what has been written about Kelly for years. Hes a great coach but he's not very hands on in recruiting.

Notre dame fans did say he isn't a big recruiter.

He lets his staff handle it.

Kelly better learn quick.

It depends on the number of staff you have listed as able to recruit. LSU is clearly pushing current staff to keep recruiting, as most are out on the road doing that. Kelly is apparently splitting his time between assembling a staff, moving his family, and recruiting.

One would assume that he would nearly immediately have the capability to recruit in place of Orgeron as soon as Orgeron's contract was terminated which was the Sunday after his final game. However, it is possible that LSU felt they had the right guys on the road to hold the line on that and let Kelly spend more of his time recruiting staff instead of players. Who knows?

Bottom line, if you hire a guy like Kelly with his level of experience and success, and you're paying him as much as you're paying him, you need to trust him to manage this transition. He doesn't owe fans the appearance of recruiting the way they want him to. He owes the program leadership and wins.

Sounds like they have job certainty

Napier has been the head coach at Florida for less than two full days and has already gone in home with Wiggins.

11 days out for a first in home visit after being named the new head coach is a little ridiculous.

HC only gets 1 in-home visit, though, so I don't really care when Kelly uses his. That said, he could have gone to Madison Prep already.

This board continue saying that Brian Kelly isn't a great recruiter........well here is an interesting article that says that he is............

"Well, he’s always been a tremendous one-on-one recruiter when he’s wanted to be. Not known as an Urban Meyer mind you, but Coach Kelly does understand recruiting. He’s been able to beat out Alabama during head-to-head battles, like he did this year for top Arizona cornerback Benjamin Morrison. He was recruited ardently by the Crimson Tide.

Three seasons ago, the Irish reeled in now potential top five pick Kyle Hamilton from Atlanta (Ga.) Marist School. He was a top priority for Georgia Head Football Coach Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs, plus numerous other programs across the country like Michigan and Ohio State, two other schools he took unofficial visits to.

The key with Coach Kelly is him actually sitting down and communicating with a prospect and his family. He’s a laid back personality and one that’s easy to get to know within that setting. As long as he continues to be that way, LSU will gain traction with top Louisiana recruits.

LSU has a really good base for the class of 2022, with 13 players verbally committed to play for the Tigers. From those 13 recruits, eight of them hail from inside the state of Louisiana. There are still several other in-state prospects of note, too.

That list includes former LSU commitment Walker Howard, a pledge that Coach Kelly was at one time attempting to flip to Notre Dame. Howard actually officially visited the Notre Dame campus earlier this fall and has publicly come out and endorsed Kelly's hiring at LSU.

Additionally, Notre Dame has a commitment from Ponchatoula, La. product Amorion Walker, a wide receiver that Alabama, Michigan, LSU, and many other programs extended a scholarship offer."

And people wonder how we've gotten the reputation of an impatient fanbase.
