Has Brian Kelly?

I don't think he has, and firmly believe that M. House will be our D-coordinator next year. What say you?

I think you might be correct on this one. Not a popular opinion with this group, but the more BK talks about it the more it seems like he is leaning on keeping him.

It will be interesting to see if anyone on the defensive side of the ball is moved out, which we should definitely anticipate. To what end, no one knows for sure. What we do know, is we need some recruiting closers on that end as well as technical coaching experience at a high level. Curious to see what JL can do when healthy and gets a full year to coach/recruit the dline, if he is retained.

It will be an interesting offseason for sure.

If you get fired because your direct reports were all hired out of high school to learn the ropes from more experienced guys then all the more experienced guys get injured and go on disability, forcing all the new hires to fill in and they do a shitty job, would you feel like you were justly terminated?

I’m not advocating for House to stay bc I too want him gone BUT if I’m looking at the situation objectively, I see an argument to give him one more year.

If you’re delegating coaching responsibilities to more experienced players then yes, you should be terminated immediately.

If Kelly won’t take decisive action on this, then he’ll find himself on the hot seat. The defensive game plan for Bama says it all. Talent wise, we’ll probably be no better next year. Why would Kelly sign up for another year of this? Especially when the offense will put up a lot fewer points.

Kelly wants to keep him. But we are losing recruits and its going to get worse. House has done very little player development and guys have regressed. His scheme is bad and players put in position not to have success.

No chance he is retained. Kelly may give him a chance to find another job first but either way he's gone.

Hot seat? NOT even a topic of discussion until at least 2028. The guy could have 3-4 losing seasons in a row and LSU will never have the $ to dump him with his current contract. Watch SW extend him back to 10 years if he wins the next 2 and a bowl game.

I think firing House is an easy sell because there is an implicit suggestion that our problems are directly related to him…and hiring a new DC solves that problem.

The truth is that Kelly knows that isn’t true. He doesn’t have the luxury that fans do.

I personally believe that our talent level on D is way below what people on here think. We are 2 years (assuming good recruiting) from the DC making a difference.

Won’t happen. After the Jimbo debacle most schools won’t be signing up for these kinds of deals. Kelly got in at the right time.

Only those who don’t understand what we have…..and don’t have. Jimmy Lindsey is the missing part. Seems like from reports that he will make it back, but no one knows if he will ever be full capacity again. Cudos to BK for not letting him go straight away, and not whining about it or using it as an excuse.

He directly coaches LBs and they are so poorly coached it is hard to watch.

Matt House’s professional coaching career began in 2003 as “defensive assistant” at UNC. In the ensuing 20 years he has coached for 10 different teams. Prior to his arrival at LSU he was a Defensive Coordinator for 5 seasons at Pitt, FIU and UK. Beginning in 2013 his defenses were 61, 78, 81, 57, 54 & 15th of 130 defenses in the country. The real question is why did BK hire him in the first place

Because he missed on his first two candidates.

House is gone and should be. No excuse to be this bad on defense.
