Is it just me or is all they seem to be talking about going into this game is how they beat Georgia so that means they will beat LSU? seems like literally everywhere I look on a topic of the game is "we did this to UGA" or "we did that to UGA"

not to mention they are only returning 3 starters on defense from that game

I like how they say this year's starters are better than last year's.

Why didn't they play last year?

Yep, it would have been cool if we could have played vs UGA last year.

i’m not gonna be biased, some of them could have taken steps forward and got better in the offseason. but saying a defensive unit that lost 9 starters is now better as a whole is fricking blasphemy

They seem to forget 2 things.

1. We dismantled Georgia last year.

and

2. This offense is light years ahead of where we were last year.

I live in Austin and I have not heard any over-confidence. The UT fans I’ve talked to are very concerned about the LSU defense and have little confidence in their offensive line and defense. Their belief is that Aranda and the LSU defense is arrogant and will leave Fulton and Stingley on islands against Johnson and Eagles which will allow Ehlinger to hit some long throws because they say Ehlinger is more accurate long than intermediate or short. I agree. I hope Aranda plays more zone.

I know Ehlinger is good but my impression has been he holds the ball too long and is prone to be inaccurate on intermediate throws and will put the ball up for grabs because he’s accustomed to his receivers beating Big 12 secondaries for a contested ball.

As for the UT defense, and I know this won’t be popular, LSU need to run the ball because UT essentially plays a 3-8 conceding 400 yards plus per game, so depends upon turnovers because it can’t matchup on the line of scrimmage.

Bottom line is that LSU is the more talented team. So, LSU needs to be smart, protect the ball on offense and let the defense and special teams win the game.

It’s probably true. The reason they didn’t start last year is because they were inexperienced. Aren’t we implying the same thing? We’re saying this year’s team is better. Our defensive line is better because the players are better. Why didn’t they start last year? Logan, for example? Our secondary is better? Why didn’t they start last year?

Texas is a program on the rise. Their last two recruiting classes were outstanding. As those guys gain experience Texas will replace less talented starters with better ones. They are a year away from having a stocked roster, like LSU has, but they’ll get there.

Excellent analysis! I also think Texas concedes the yardage between the 20’s hoping to get a turnover. Then they tighten up in the red zone to make you settle for field goals and get turnovers as the passing lanes disappear. Red zone efficiency will be key, and as you say, no turnovers.

They beat Georgia in a bowl game in which Georgia fans say it was obvious UGA did not want to be there. Not to make an excuse, but it was clearly evident that the bowl game did not mean much to UGA.

Do they forget LSU destroyed Georgia at their best that same season? ..and LSU is world's better this season..

i wouldnt base the majority of what UT fans think from message boards.

I listened to both 1300 the Zone and the Horn radio stations last week and this and they've had multiple guests and callers on, and the majority have picked LSU and know this a huge mountain to climb.

Even Chip Brown was making fun of their RB situation and said LSU's defense is going to have a field day with the UT offense. Chip's cohost said last week dont be surprised if Austin is Baton Rouge west on 9/7.

They've been very level headed IMO

The guy I work w who is a Texas fan says the same thing. Defense isn't good enough to match ours, thinks it will be a good game but lsu will pull ahead.

Agreed. I'd almost like to see us line up in the I-formation and cram it down their throats because they're not stopping that. Then we can start to toss it around once they're keying in on the run. What I don't want to do is run the HUNH and give them the ball back quickly if we don't convert.

If both teams play like they did against GA, LSU wins hands down. I asked one of the original Wrecking Crew from A&M what he thought of LSU vs GA game. He said "Typical LSU" they punched them in the mouth and didnt stop beating until the bell rang. I have a feeling it is about to happen again. These tigers are hungry!
