Of the SEC legends just honored, Jake Gobbs was one of them. History lesson:
When I was a kid, I would sit by my dad just past the visitors dugout at the old Box. When we played Ole Miss, the fans in those bleachers would chant "Punt, Jake, punt," at the Ole Miss coach. I asked my dad why. The Ole Miss coach, Jake Gibbs played Major League Baseball. But while a student at Ole Miss, he also played football. Jake Gibbs was the punter on the 1959 Ole Miss football team. Ole Miss, 1959, Billy Cannon....ahhhhh.
