Look at the bracket and if we win we play the high seed of game 1 and 2 winners. That will be that team's second game and our second as well. What is the benefit of having a first round bye of we are playing our second game the same time they are?

It's a pretty stupid setup, wish it was still at 8 teams
Agreed

Thank you. That is my point. Kentucky makes out like a bandit if they win because they get to play a low seed in game one then get a day off for rest. LSU has to play in back to back days if we win. This new setup sucks. jfs

i thought he was trolling. i mean frick, I knew there was an SEC tournament after the baseball and basketball regular seasons when i was 7
Exactly! If you have to explain the purpose behind a post season SEC tourney, then that person does not follow sports. Football has one, basketball too. It gives lower ranked teams a chance to make the tourney.

You aren't playing your first game at the same time they are with two days of rest following the end of the season?

i would rather them go back to 8, eventhough we are about to have 14 teams.

False. Kind of. Football doesn't crown the sec champs before the sec championship. Only east and west division champs. I knew there was an sec tournament, Elleshoe. Not sure what you're getting at with that statement. Just asking what the title would be to whoever won the tournament.

Agreed or do a single elim round between btm 4 teams advancing to a double elim 8 team tourney

Kentucky winning their first game is probably a best case scenario for us as far as the pitchers we would have to face in our first two games is concerned.
We're going to see an ace on Wednesday regardless. Wahl, Stanek, and Stratton are all better than anyone Kentucky will throw at us. I would rather only face one of them Wednesday and then deal with Kentucky instead of having to deal with 2 of those 3 on back to back days.

SEC Tournament Champions......come on bro

It's simple. Stupid yet simple. The 1-4 seeds get the scheduling advantage already discussed. The 3-4 have to play a little sooner, but still get the second bye with a win. 1 and 2 get the advantage of the lower seeded matchups. 1 seed gets a major advantage, because of 2 and 3 on the other side.
It's a dumb setup, but the top 4 seeds seem like the real ones that matter. East and west champ are guaranteed 1 and 2, while 3-4 is at large. It will get smoother over time with 14-16 teams.

True, but normally if you're playing your second game for example, your opponent would normally be in their third

Wow, I just took a look at that bracket, that bitch is effed up. It's not really a bye that LSU is getting.
