It was undoubtedly the right call, but they never showed a 'conclusive' shot of it. If they were being consistent, they'd have deferred to the call on the field - which I agree was erroneous.
It was as conclusive as a call gets. His knee was down short of the 35. At the time his back was to the 35. That means the ball was closer to the 34 than the 35. No part of his body, much less the ball, reached the 35. How much more evidence do you need? Yes, they blew some calls but that review reversal was spot on and easy.

How would O know that he stepped out of bounds? they don't have replay monitors. And the coaches in the booth are probably scrambling with their call sheets looking for player substitutions and adjustments to call into the bench. They aren't watching a tv replay.

The offsetting personal foul penalties against Gage and the Florida guy, #7 maybe? Was rigoddamndiculous
Absolutely. I think the ref may have assumed the UF player was retaliating to something he didn't see which would be just as ridiculous.

And Birmingham is not trying to resolve the problems caused by the conference's sad officiating. In fact, they always appear to defend the bad calls and the bad officials. In the past good officials have left the SEC, in part, because of the conference's lack of effort to improve in this area.
Best case scenario - denial.
Worst case and likeliest scenario - corruption.

SEC refs are just doing their part to ensure that the SEC is pretty much universally shitty this season. They do it every year, but this year is apparently some sort of conference wide commitment to being trash.

Every week they make glaring mistakes that are clear to the naked eye. They have been the worst college football officials for years now and it is an embarrassment.
Not a new problem, or just an accident. It looks like the SEC home office has long ago decided that they want both the SEC-E and the SEC-W leaders to have as few losses as possible so that both would go to the top money bowls after the SEC Championship game. Would never happen if one was 8-4 and the other was 9-3. In fact, neither would make the BCS Playoffs in that case. It is very reasonable to believe that the refereeing errors that you seen for years in games involving the teams with best records each year are not mistakes, but intentional, and in fact are not disciplined or corrected by the home office.
Obviously, there is no point in complaining to the conference. The only way it will be redressed if flagrant abuses are brought to the attention of the NCAA sufficiently that SEC officials are banned from officiating in post season play.

know Miles used to turn video in to the SEC after games of questionable plays. I hope LSU still does.
It apparently has done nothing to fix it so why bother?

SEC teams can pressure the SEC into improving this dumpster fire they call the SEC offisting crew, just takes team work

i had a question after the targeting call (i think that was the play). it was 2nd and 10 and lsu got the first down. then the targeting call. the next play was 3rd and 10 from the previous l.o.s.
it should have been 1st and 10 with the l.o.s. marked off from the spot of the foul right? the targeting occurred after the receiver had already cleared the first down marker.

The hometown, most influential school in the conference is the beneficiary of the lopsided officiating, why would they let it be fixed?

That Florida player on Dillons hit wasn't defenseless, that motherfrickers just wasn't paying attention...that was a pretty bad call...those hits happen frequently on punt/KO returns and refs call a targeting on Dillon for it...that laughable shite right there

So let's say Austin Thomas, or a S/Teams consultant, or some shadow staff offensive consultant, etc can be your own personal 'review guy'.
Some teams will use basic hand helds and will signal the sideline through an equipment manager, GA, or S&C coach.
Still other teams just stream the ESPN broadcast on a tablet in the booth with coordinators.
