Because all of the people saying that we are Indy Bowl bound is starting to bug me.

UF/Bama are both going to the BCS. The title game is just deciding which goes to the big title game.

First up to bat is the Capital One Bowl. They are required to pick UGA because there are no other eligible teams for it in the SEC (This changes if UGA loses to Tech though).

Cotton and Outback pick at the same time, with Cotton getting first pick of the West, and the Outback getting first pick of the East. A bowl can pick a team from the opposite division after that division's bowl has their pick. Cotton is a faint shot for us unless MSU pulls an upset, but Outback has a fair shot of taking us. The committee will basically have to choose between USC and LSU.

Next comes the Peach, with no divisional strings attached. I personally think this is where we will go pretty much no matter what by virtue of the Outback passing on LSU from traveling fears. If LSU loses against Arkie, we might still go to this bowl, because their other choices will be 6-5 Vandy and Kentucky.

Whoever doesn't make it in the Peach will be taken by the Liberty/Music City bowl.

And that is it. There are not enough elibible SEC teams for any to fall to the Independence Bowl, much less the Papajohns.com Bowl. The only thing that might change is Auburn beats Alabama, and they will go to the Independence Bowl no questions asked.

I disagree. We are a lock for the Cotton right now and Ole Miss is a lock for the Peach even if they beat Miss State. Even if we lose to Arky, I still think there is a very good chance that we still go to Cotton and Ole Miss goes to Peach.

It's pretty much set now.

You have been saying that repeatedly, but you never explained why they would pass on the higher ranked team that would be super excited to travel and have a fair chance for a decent game for a lower ranked one that probably won't travel super well and everyone is going to expect a severely lopsided blowout game.

I can see Clemson beating USC... if we beat Arky, then the Outback should take the defending national champs at 8-4 rather than a 7-5 SC team that lost to us.

Peach would sell more tickets for SC due to proximity and outback would sell more for LSU b/c Tampa is an awesome city and the LSU fans would travel there but not Atlanta.

Alleva and Miles need to be lobbying big time right now for the Outback to get them out of their East picking precedent thinking.

The Ole Miss/LSU game probably did decide who goes to the Cotton Bowl. However, I don't think the loser automatically was set for the Peach. The Outback would take Carolina over Ole Miss, but I think they take LSU over Carolina.

The bowl representatives have talked about trying to keep teams "closer to home" this year. Obviously, Dallas is the #3 LSU alumni base outside of Louisiana and is very close to Baton Rouge. Same can be said the other way for Ole Miss and Atlanta in terms of distance.

That said, it all comes down to money. Tickets are going to sell out regardless, so what they're really looking at is Advertising Dollars and TV money... Trust me, LSU vs Texas Tech is a more appealing matchup than Ole Miss vs Texas Tech (not to mention Ole Miss and Texas Tech have played recently). That's a no-brainer.

We could go into all the other reasons too (like the Cotton being in love with LSU, etc, etc), but tthose are the biggest reasons.

My thoughts:

BCSCG -- Winner of SCCG
Sugar -- Loser of SECCG
Capital One -- Georgia
Cotton/Outback -- Ole Miss/South Carolina
Peach -- LSU
Music City -- Vanderbilt
Independence -- Kentucky
Liberty -- no one

Now, then, Auburn would be able to squeak into the Liberty Bowl with a win over Alabama. Odds are, an Alabama loss to Auburn wouldn't disqualify Alabama from the BCSCG, so the rest doesn't change; but if Auburn becomes bowl-eligible, the SEC won't miss a tie-in.

You're just making stuff up that simply isn't true.

Yes it would. No chance an SEC team will be in Papajohns Bowl.

I told you what I think will happen and gave my thought process behind the thinking as well. I don't think your comment is necessary.

Sorry, but Mr. Ho have to chime in on this conversation; but if "worthless" TMTDM can score 31 at will for 3 quarters, how many points would Texas Tech/Oklahoma/Oklahoma State score in the first half against LSUAMC?

So, in order to play on New Years Day, we have to hope Ole Miss gets "Croomed"! I'm in!

Agreed. This LSU team needs no part of the Big 12, unless it is Baylor or Texas A&M. The Cotton Bowl scoreboard would have to be modified for the game if LSU showed up.

At this point, the Peach is dependent upon the LSU offense producing more TDs for LSU than for Arkansas on Friday. I don't like those odds. The Independence Bowl may not be obvious, but those lesser bowls often exercise curious liberties in selecting their teams, and the Independence Bowl is always out to get LSU when they can, so don't count the Indy folks out yet.

Peach

LSU v Boston College

At least that would be interesting, though I don't like LSU chances to win. Damn site better than LSU v Texas.
