Per Kendall Rogers “ COACHING SCOOP: In a rather bizarre move, @TexasBaseball has parted ways with pitching coach Sean Allen. Allen's pitching staff ranked 26th (4.22) nationally in ERA and led the #Big12 in ERA this spring. He was the @d1baseball Assistant of the Year in 2021 as well. #Hookem”

Jay has a very solid option available. Pitching hire will be biggest move yet.

your post was downvoted because the mouth breathers on here only look at most recent season and base everything on that.

You mean the most recent season where they made it to Omaha? Yeah, that was terrible.

Would be a great hire.

The firing seems a little emotional one day after their season ends. I guess some one has to be the scapegoat.

He was their hitting coach 3 years ago fyi and transitioned to pitching coach. Their fans arent happy with the lack of development of pitchers.

None of them are upset and they arent surprised he was let go

I don't think I'd hire him as pitching coach, unless a few others fell through, but we do have 2 positions available. He has a wide range of experience, including recruiting, hitting, defense, and pitching. Not saying I'd completely hate him as pitching coach, because he does have some skins there, but we do have some other good options there. Seems more suited to replace Fitz.

Seems like a red flag. I want a seasoned pitching guru.

It doesn’t matter who Jay hires you will be defecating on him 30 minutes after announcement. It’s what you do!

If he was a good hitting coach, why did they make him their pitching coach? Is that like having the offensive coordinator become the defensive coordinator?

Haha right, his best pitcher had TJ, and his other top guy struggled at the end of the year. This dude is light years better than who just left us.

Texas team ERA In 2020 and 2021 was under 3. This year it was 4.20 or something close to it. Bullpen struggled but the staff still ranked #1 in the Big 12 and 22nd nationally. Feels a little quick to fire a guy with that resume but that’s the coaching world.

Can’t get anymore recent than this.
Edit to say I guess Coach Pierce needs someone to blame

You need a pitching guru that's young enough to understand all the new high tech pitching lab equipment and how to apply and use it.

I'm pretty sure we don't have the whole story on this one. Makes absolutely no sense unless there was something else up with him and/or the rest of the staff.

Meh. That’s one way to do it, but there are also guys who don’t need all that. Cat can be skinned in different ways.
