Our defense needs improvement and I expect Aranda will continue to develop it. Our offense is unbelievable. some fans are Les’Miserables, and cliff jumpers.

Good take. Hopefully you will say the same when LSU plays teams with real defenses like UF, Auburn, and BAMA where the LSU offense can’t score 50 points.
I’m happy winning no matter how LSU wins but don’t act like there is nothing to be concerned about on defense.

Total yards for Vandy was 374. Anybody who knows football, knows when it’s a blowout the other team is going to get garbage yards.
Uh, they took the opening drive 75 yards for a TD. They had 200 yards of offense in the first half. The defense did not play well.

So while checking on this board during the game I figured we had the worst defense in the country. Then I actually watched the game. Afterwards I pulled up the stats. Total yards for Vandy was 374.
Bingo. As usual, overreactions rule the board. Outside of bad tackling and injuries, I didn't see anything to be too worried about.

Why are you so focused on stats?
You sound a lot like something in the political arena plaguing today’s society

It certainly didn't merit the meltdown we've seen on the Scoreboard.

I wasn’t on the scoreboard much during the game, so I don’t know what it looked like. I agree that it doesn’t warrant a melt down, but it’s also no longer something we can brush off as an off game. The defense is a concern and needs to be fixed if we’re going to beat Auburn Florida and Bama.

Had a previous commitment so I DVR’D the game. So while checking on this board during the game I figured we had the worst defense in the country. Then I actually watched the game. Afterwards I pulled up the stats. Total yards for Vandy was 374. Anybody who knows football, knows when it’s a blowout the other team is going to get garbage yards. They were 6-17 on third downs and 19-39 completion attempts. That’s pretty good for any defense. All while we used backups. Hell, Orgeron admitted we started the first series with some second string guys. And by the way, we broke an LSU record for how many TD’s scores by a QB. But oh no the sky is falling! Some of you will never be happy.
Glad both of us saw the same thing. Tackling worries me, but the run defense will be fixed once we get all our guys back (Chaisson, Logan, Lawrence, and now Divinity).

I avoid this site when I record games

I thought the defense did a commendable job, especially when you consider LSU had second and third stringers in there. They needed the reps and they certainly got them. The only thing concerned me was the tackling in the secondary. Tyler Shelvin was an absolute beast. I hide my face when that pile fell on Divinity's leg.
Geaux Tigahs!

We have panic fans.
We do, but we also have fans that want a championship and see what needs to be done in order to win one. Anyone that looks at this team knows that we have the personnel to be great at defense but we aren't at that level, yet.

I'm saying some, not even the majority, of the tackling issues have to be coming from the new offense and defensive fatigue.
quote:why is it nonsense? Tackling is the first thing to go south with fatigue. Would it not be logical that this issue came out of nowhere because of a very different offense? (Or some of it anyway)
this is such nonsense
Or did all americans forget? Aliens maybe? Paid off by Vandy boosters?

The #2-3s got a lot of playing time. This is building experience and it helps moral when everyone gets on the field. It makes the 2-3s work harder during the week knowing they might get in a game.
Down the road the #1s will have fresher legs.

Preach.
That said, the injuries are concerning as LSU heads to the meat of its schedule, as is the terrible fricking tackling.
LSU gets healthy and improves technique and they should be fine.

One of these is not like the others. Auburn and Florida will not come close to slowing our offense. Alabama might slow it slightly, but we’ll still be in a shootout with them I think.

Auburn’s defense is head and shoulders better than Bama. Auburn has the best defense in the league. Maybe watch a few more SEC games before spouting off nonsense.
