I don't think they think they are badasses. LSU is a tradition rich school that just doesn't need gimmicks like everyone dressing in the same colors. Let the schools that don't have our football team, band, stadium and student section dress alike to feel special. We don't need it.
Our colors are purple and gold and we have white trim. Wear anything that has LSU and any or preferably all of those colors.
LSU is known for its diversity and for being unique. We shouldn't feel the need to do something just because another school does it and it looked good.

i don't have any problems with a gold game. but i will be wearing purple because that is my gameday shirt.

There's always self centered ultra a-holes in every crowd that really thinks it's so cool to do their own thing. "WE" is not in their vocabulary, only "ME." Memememememememe. You can still make lots of noise in a gold fricking shirt. And, if you can't yell loud/enjoy yourself without alcohol in your system (The Neanderneck System) you might want to save your football ticket money and spend it on some sessions with a good mental health or substance abuse counselor.......

LSU should never copy other schools. Other schools are putting logos on their helmets instead of numbers, we're not. Other schools are passing more and not running the wishbone, not us in Tiger town. Other schools are adding extra seating to their stadium, we make enough noise already. Other schools have indoor practice facilities and an academic center, we ain't copying that. Other schools have big fancy scoreboards with video screens, we don't need that, we're LSfrickinU.

How about this .... everyone wear purple rain ponchos when it's raining, then when it stops raining shed them to reveal the gold shirts. It would be like the sun bursting through the clouds causing the Gators to forfeit the game when they run off the field in a fearful panic.
