I don't know, but if I were an up and coming young Coach and the way Woody spends other folks money, I would listen.
Mac is fixed for life, financially. How many million dollars per SEC win? No wonder Woody is not working in the Private Sector. No accountability and spending someone else's money. What a life

CMM has 2 more full years....and he should have that opportunity to rebuild a destroyed program.

It has been a terrible start, and the hill is very steep.
If he turns this around, it will be amazing.

This is the only right answer. Firing guys after one year under LSU’s current circumstances would be a death sentence to hiring any quality coaches in the future. These guys have families and aren’t willing to risk their career or move again if they know they might be fired after 1 or 2 years. The emotional takes from everyone aren’t reality. He’s getting at least 3 years before he’s truly judged for the long term.

They aren’t making $50K like your bum arse job.

$14M buyout - they’ll move wherever and get fired whenever.

I will never understand this. I honestly didn't realize he got an 8 year contract. That is ridiculous.

And hire who? Who is taking the lsu job right now when you apparently are only giving people one year to prove themselves.

A high level competitor.
Someone who is confident enough to bet on themself.
A coach who is smart enough to know that talent is not terribly difficult to procure at LSU.
This coach also realizes that the transfer portal exists and can dramatically change a program year over year.

Just look at the Mizzou coach. Almost the same numbers scenario as CMM coming in (looming sanctions notwithstanding, I'll give you that). Dennis Gates is taking Missouri to the NCAAT in his first season there.

Also, I don't think this melt and epic groundswell against CMM happens if we are even a little closer to middle of the pack in the SEC. This season has been abject failure. There is some talent on this team; it hasn't been developed, schemed, motivated, coached.

I'm ok with cutting bait now. I'm also ok with giving him another year, which will probably happen.
I'd love to see CMM turn it around.
I'd be happy to eat crow if he does.

These guys don’t get into the coaching profession for money. Most start out in high school or small college ball because they love coaching and impacting kids lives. Your small brain probably can’t grasp that though.

These guys don’t get into it for the money. But money talks and they’re moving for $14M.

Regardless of when McMahon is let go (and it won't be this year), I don't have any faith that Woodward will make a better hire. I don't think he knows what he is looking for, and I don't get the impression that he's interested in spending the time it takes to truly vet the candidates that are out there.

Kelly and Mulkey were no brainers. He's going to have to actually do some research when it comes to the next MBB coach. LSU is not a destination job and there aren't any Louisiana natives I know of out there who are hall of fame coaches eager to return home.

Yes we had top classes and winning but we were cheating. I don’t think that is hard to understand. We were cheaters under Wade.

I generally would agree. But this team is horrid. Any decent coach should be confident that he will do better

You make an outstanding point. Wade was a cheater. AND NONE OF THE OTHER COACHES CHEAT.

Are you retarded???? Or just being purposefully obtuse?????

I really, really hope it's the latter for your sake.

Are you under the impression that UK, Bama, Arkansas, Auburn, etc. aren't cheating?

If McMahon is fired after this year he will make $20.3 million dollars in 1 year. He will make 10.15 million dollars per SEC win.

That’s the best job in basketball. Every single coach should be lining up for that.

He can basically retire after 1 year of bad basketball.

Not only that Tigerfoot, a lot of coaches around the country (like Wade when he was at VCU) would jump at the LSU job if given a chance.

Through my job, I'm on a very friendly basis with a mid major head basketball coach in the part of the country I live. He's told me CONSTANTLY over the years that LSU has no reason to be as mediocre as they've been in basketball.

I wear my LSU gear regularly around town up here in VA. I can't possibly count how many times a 15-25 yo black male has given me an LSU shout, or even thrown up the "L". For some of you slower people, that's the EXACT demographic LSU is targeting when recruiting.

With the exception of Trent and this clown we have now, we've ALWAYS gotten our share and more of great players over the years.

I submit we are the BIGGEST sleeping giant in college basketball right now outside of Louisville. Any confident, competent coach would win big here. Beard and Wade appear to be available. I'd take either.
