Imagine we buy out McMahon, the next game we think an assistant is coaching remainder of the year. Glass breaks and General Wade makes his way out

Mcamahon took over a consistent conference contender at Murray State and did nothing special in comparison to his predecessors while there. He lucked into a talent like Ja Morant and people actually thought the record made him a good coach.

Reality is that he was living off the stability and infrastructure built by multiple predecessors and can’t build anything for shite.

This was a hire that showed how stupid Woodward can be as an AD. If he’s not overpaying for a better top tier coach, he can’t identify talent in coaching worth a crap, which is what great ADs do. A great AD is not the guy that simply puts the most money on the table and buys a top tier coach. To make things worse, McMahon’s contract shows how moronic Woodward is even if the sanctions around the school are/were hovering. In that case the smart play is to hire a place holder for two to three years on the cheap, and then go for the big fish.

In the end, it is what it is and Woodward has killed LSU men’s basketball for the foreseeable future.

This is the problem in my eyes. Why give him an 8 year contract?

That is a horrible blunder. Even if mcmahon's team was performing well, i don't think an 8 year contract was the right move.

These guys don’t get into the coaching profession for money. they love coaching and impacting kids lives.

When I see Calipari and Oats teaching Sunday school then my small brain probably can grasp that though.

McMahon agent probably knew he was in over his head and negotiated nothing less than an 8 year contract knowing he wouldn't finish it out.

Yeah, this year would have gone sooooo well with a cheap "placeholder".

Are you under the impression that UK, Bama, Arkansas, Auburn, etc. aren't cheating?

Of course not! Auburn’s 8 ever NCAAT appearances and losing record are what attracted all of those 5 star recruits who led them to the final 4.
