Who pays the AD salary at LSU: the University or TAF?

all he has done in his short, very short tenure as an AD is give a coach a 75 million dollar guaranteed contract.
You do know he had a job before Texas A&M right?

He isn’t interested in dealing with the politics at LSU. If he had the ability to make the calls he felt were needed or i guess enough money could change his mind. His parents live here and he loves to fish in Louisiana.
Or, it could be that money is not his driving factor. Maybe he would like to return home and restore some glory to his alma mater. Not saying money won’t be a factor at all, just that it may not be THE determining factor, if all other things are fairly equal.
Now, you may know him personally and may be 100% correct.

being an AD is a lot more than hiring one coach and giving the farm up to get him at that.
Earth shattering info. So who would be your choice, Grandad? Or is Alleva your boy?

I grew up with his step-son and Scott and my dad became friends. He hooked us up with tickets in Washington and they've kept in touch a little bit. My dad seems to think he doesn't really want to come home because of the politics in Louisiana and the blank check A&M gives him. It's kind of a dream scenario for an AD. But, he has never denied or confirmed that.

Also pulled the White Whale out of Boise St. to go to Washington. A guy that every major program had offered before that.
ETA:
Just at Washington:
quote:
In his tenure at Washington, Woodward hired two football coaches, USC offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian in 2009 and Boise State head coach Chris Petersen in 2014.
quote:
Woodward also spearheaded the $282 million reconstruction of Husky Stadium, completed in 2013.
quote:
In his first year as Washington's athletic director in 2008, Woodward faced a $2.8 million shortfall in the athletic department budget. It forced the school to eliminate both men's and women's swimming programs and lay off 13 employees....
...UW's athletic budget has stabilized some since Woodward's first year, with revenues of $107.2 million reported for 2014-15. Revenues were boosted in part by the Pac-12 Conference's television-rights deals and by Washington's naming rights deals with Alaska Airlines. Contributions to the athletic department more than doubled, from about $12.6 million in 2008 to $26.6 million by 2013.

But, Washington had never offered him. I'm sure Scott made a great offer, but Peterson wanted to go there.

I know him. Yes, Scott and his wife have roots here. They have family and good friends here. Sure they would prefer BR to College Station, but that kind of $ allows them to travel here and elsewhere whenever they want.
I know we have our recent reputation of being cheap, but I would be shocked if we didn't at least offer him 1.2. My God the guy has hired Chris Peterson and Jimbo Fisher. he's certainly worth whatever price

I hope we spend the $ for a quality hire, whether it is Scott or whoever. Like I said, I know Scott and he is a very smart guy.

I probably know your family. What years were you at Episcopal?
Scott was in town this past weekend and seemed well.

You probably did, I went 2-12. My 3 older siblings all went there as well. I graduated in 2006.
I would prefer anonymity on here though

Ehhh. From what I was reading on Sumlin and Aggy situation all last year I’m pretty sure the scenario was boosters told him who they wanted, what they were willing to pay, and to make it happen by any means or terms necessary.

I like Woodward and I think he genuinely loves LSU however I don’t have much faith on LSUs side of the negotiation table. It won’t just take money to lure him away he’ll want as much autonomous reign as possible. That means a pretty hands off BOS, TAF, LSU admin. That’s a lot of individuals willing to concede power to one person. For us, In theory it should be a no brainer but people like power and calling shots.

There is no T in College. C-Stat.

Don't waste your time trying to reason with GrandDad. You'd have better luck reasoning with a brick wall. GrandDad thinks this is still the 1930s and that you have to see your contracts through even if it sinks your athletic department deeper into the ocean.

quote:so he got a national championship winning coach to leave Florida state for the aggies? He spent the money to get a winner there and turn around the program. I don’t blame him for throwing that money at fisher. The aggies have more money then they know what to do with.

Alleva hired one good coach in wade and that wouldn’t have got done without Nunez. He hired the most unqualified football coach in SEC history to coach the tigers. He’s a disgrace to LSU and the state of Louisiana. Keep sucking his dick though old man.
