Scott Woodward wants NOTHING to do with NIL

You have no idea of what is going on behind the scenes.
Yes, they have an NIL get together tonight in the stadium. Altus Group is going to explain the ins and outs etc. TAF is frozen. They can't do anything because anything they do will upset their financial models which are already ruined by covid.
It's going to take the boosters to unify and bring LSU into the mainstream. LSU won't do it.
The men who run LSU are functionaries. Bureaucrats. The first thing they do when a great idea comes along is to say, "Which of my donors is this going to upset?" They don't say, "Wow! This is so good it doesn't matter what my current situation is, we have to do this...!" That will never happen. LSU will never lead, it will only follow. The current financing structure TAF uses came from other universities doing it first.
If you expect the athletic department to solve this it won't. It will have to be boosters and they only can give so much.
There are systemic issues with the way LSU is currently handling NIL that I won't get into. It's just a fact they are good at videos and horrible at vision.
Get used to other schools leading, and us waiting for change that isn't coming. I wish I could say more but I'll keep hoping real leadership arises and takes charge of the situation.

If he doesn’t want anything to do with NIL then he doesn’t want to win. And the following not leading is pretty on brand for the flagship in a state that is 50th in everything

You are right on our end and we are wrong to have it that way. But you are blind if Bjork isn't behind the scenes organizing their NIL base.

It really does feel like the 1990s.. we’re hemorrhaging in-state talent because we dished out 20 mil for Coach O to have sex in Destin
There’s really no signs that it can change. Like do we really expect A&M, Bama and Texas to not reload their NIL funds next year?

It has always been that way...historically, LSU has always been last to adapt to change.

I don’t believe any of this insider info stuff unless it comes from Voltiger
Lmao

TAF isn't giving out NIL deals. It's illegal.

LSU just set the market for head coaching salaries for the second time in two decades.

Anyone expecting this doesn’t understand NIL and to what extent a school is allowed to be involved.

You just create a “nonprofit” or slush fund for NIL and have TAF conveniently donate money to help. It’s not that freaking hard

Why don’t you get into and enlighten us. Tired of you so called people in the know that like to drop this line. Just fricking tell us.

We've got to deal with some stupid La. NIL legislation passed last year, which the Texas legislature did not enact. This give Scott, TAF and others an excuse for not reacting to the challenge.
Scott and the legislature are leaving us to fight with one arm behind our back.

He doesn't want to have anything to do with NIL, yet LSU had the NILSU billboard in Times Square. Ok.
I think we need to better define what we are talking about. LSU is all for NIL as It was intended. We're talking about pay for play here and keeping up with the shady shite that A&M and some other schools are pulling. I still feel like this is going to blow up in their faces and we would be wise to watch, learn and let our strategy evolve. LSU will never be able to go toe to toe with the Texas schools in a bidding war for players and I'm not even sure that we would want to.

Exactly, OP has no clue what he’s talking about.

Everything said in the OP is spot on and is exactly what I’ve heard from the guys trying to make this happen.

Yeah I am not going out on a limb saying you don’t know shite.

You do realize that schools cannot participate and offer NIL deals. That is between players and their NIL sponsor.
Coaches are prohibited from offering NIL to players as part of recruitment. I am pretty sure Woodward is not supposed to do it either.

If this is true he's betting on bureaucracy winning out and putting caps and regs on this NIL free for all...
Which I'm all for. I guess we'll see
