When Dale had us rolling from 1978-92, the interest, appreciation, admiration, and overall fan enthusiasm in his program was LIGHT YEARS more intense than "we goin to Omaha!!!" mouthbreathers.

When LSU basketball was rolling, it was bigger than even FOOTBALL during the successful part of the Dale era. Baseball would under ZERO circumstances be bigger at LSU than football. DO NOT doubt me on that.

I saw Scotty at a funeral last week. We got to talking about MM. Long story short. He's not going anywhere any time soon"

You think he'd tell you if he was planning to let MM go?- not a chance in hell

Define bigger. Even the crappy Hallman teams drew 60K. Of course people were more excited about the teams vs losing football teams.

LSU basketball was way more successful than LSU football during Dale's run from 78-92.

PACKED pmac for most (and ALL big games), tournament appearances ANNUALLY, #1 and #2 seeds in some of those tournaments. A few SEC titles sprinkled in. A few DEEP runs mixed in. Nationally known MEGASTARS playing in BR. Being the LEAD STORY on sportscenter many nights, especially when we had CJ, then Shaq and more the next season.

The football team went from mediocre to HORRIBLE during that same time.

Now obviously, if we would have had the success in football the last 25 years back during this Dale era, football would have remained the clear #1 on campus, but the fact is, we had IDIOTS running our AD office until Emmert took over as president and changed that.

And wouldn't it be great to have football rolling like it's been over the last generation, AND a top notch, exciting men's basketball program as well?

When this comes up I always recall this memory. It was Shaq's sencond or third year and I had a job when I was in the car all the time and was listening to local sports radio a lot.

LSU had just gotten a big road win over Bama in hoops that put them first in the conference late January and I was pretty fired up about it.

Tuned in to sports radio most of the day and there may have been two calls about the hoops game, the day was dominated by football recruiting talk. And this was during the Curley days!!! Ticked be off, but to me revealed the reality of the pecking order.

All he does is throw large amounts of money at coaches with a proven track record.

Both can be true - but you have to look back at the timeline for when Wade was released. The heat was coming down and hard and sometimes you have to cut the cause of it all loose in order to get some space from the heat. Because NCAA investigations sometimes end up having collateral damage to other parts of the athletic department.

But to your point - I agree that it’s possible there was another way around all this but Wade screwed himself with his failure to cover his tracks and keep himself a layer or two away from the improper dealings. Woodward had to do what he thought was best for all the athletic programs and the university.

Doesn't surprise me. As long as the mouth breathers continue to vocally support LSU Admin, they don't care. They have a job/paycheck.
When has an AD been fired for incompetence.

You sure nailed it. And to boot, McMahon is a way better coach than Wade, right Einstein????

How do you get through life with a kindergartner's point of view of the world???

Maybe, but it appears he is recovering nicely.
Within the next five years odds are he will have a team in the tourney, possibly the Final Four. What are the odds LSU will make the tourney in five years?
Some LSU Fans are still bent over for Woody and Tate.

Great coaches are known for averaging 10 or more losses during their career. You sure nailed it.

Maybe you're retarded, but you do understand that Wade had BY FAR the best initial 5 year stretch of ANY COACH in the history of LSU basketball, right????

And he's currently WRECKING shite at one of the bottom 5% programs in the history of college basketball, no????

You can hate him, because you don't fancy pear shaped men, but you CANNOT logically hate him for the job he did at LSU and everywhere else he's coached.

Wait. Unless you're one of those dumb asses that live in candy land, and believe Wade was just one of the few renegades that recruit filthy in college basketball, and that's why he wins. You aren't that naive, are you???
