The contract also includes a conditional extension for Woodward if LSU is hit with NCAA sanctions due to events that happened before Woodward was hired. If such a sanction occurs, the contract says, Woodward's term will be extended for a period of two years to April 30, 2027, at $1.5 million per year in the additional years. It includes a relocation signing bonus of $250,000, which is payable within 30 days of May 6, 2019, and it includes two retention bonuses of $250,000, which he will receive if he remains employed as the athletic director at LSU through April 30, 2024, and $500,000, if he remains employed through April 30, 2025

I wish the relocation signing bonus was larger.
Pay this man

That contract seems reasonable... unless Woodward is merely an advance man for Jimbo Fisher.

Ed Orgeron is the real deal. Hope he's able to prove it this season.

Gotta pay the big bucks to win, something Alleva wasn't willing or capable of doing. This signals a seismic shift in commitment by the athletic department.

So he essentially took a 40+% pay cut to leave A&M and come here ? I’m either missing something or something isn’t adding up here.

He was getting around $900k at A&M. He'll get 1.1 to 1.5 million a year from us. That's called a raise.

Definitely deserves 1.1 with ease. At 1.5 million he’ll become one of the highest paid AD’s in the country and deservedly so for one of the best in the country. Now increase Wade from 2.5 to at least 3.

Also doesn’t 1.1 million make him the second highest paid in the SEC? I know 1.5 would push him way above everyone else in the SEC.

Alleva was a bean counter and LSU was going nowhere fast under his direction. Only 2 national titles under his watch. 2009 baseball and a golf title. Feel like LSU upgraded to a Ferrari. Hope Woodward is here for a long long time

Why would you want to pay him more than he was willing to accept?

Unless something bad happens, he will be here until he retires or until he becomes a university president somewhere.
