I think TQ was definitely hurt by Simmons handling the ball so much. Everyone played their correct position on last year's team. Victor and Mickey down low wouldve been money

This Simmons thing seems like a bad nightmare. How can you recruit the number one player in the nation and it come off an extreme negative?

Scott Rabalais is a moron then.

This team didn't make it because of a lame-duck coach and a team that quit.

Mickey (outside of blocks), played just as bad defense as Ben. Johnny obviously doesn't emphasize defense and free throws.

I don't get it either. But this fanbase is notorious for placing the blame squarely on players.

Seriously, all of this anger needs to be channeled towards Jones (and I used to support the guy)

Veteran leadership usually gets you into the NCAA Tournament.

At least other players were having bad seasons, so they deserve some of the blame. Ben had a historic season averaging 20-12-5 and decided to go pro. OMG WORST TIGER EVER!!! HE HATES LSU!

Hey I didn't write the article and didn't even say I agree with the quote. Just interested in y'all's opinion. Well some of you.

TQ actually had a higher usage this year than he did last year. It's not like Simmons ran the point and TQ was forced to play off the ball for the entire season. He brought the ball up the floor just as much as Simmons did and actually had the ball more this year than last. And let's not act like TQ was some efficient player with the ball that rarely turned it over and always made good decisions with the ball.

And how much a player handles he ball shouldn't change how hard a player plays, especially on the defensive end, and attitude. That was my biggest issue with TQ this past season. His effort, especially on the defensive end, and attitude was abysmal outside of a few games. His offensive output was pretty much the same from last season. Hes not an efficient scorer and will always make a few plays that make you say "wtf". But his sophomore year, he played extremely hard on the defensive side of the floor and made a huge difference there. This year? Not so much. Last season, he had a Defensive Win Share of 2.0. This year, it was just 0.9. Not good.

Agreed.

We would have been a better team.

Might be a question for another thread, but how bad off is LSU's APR now that Simmons has withdrawn from school?

We had a 957 as of last year

Agree.

Jarrell Martin and Simmons or Mickey and Simmons would have been a better team than last year.

..only if he improved his FT shooting.

Hack-a-Mick would have been in full effect this season if he did not.

Horrible assumption.

Mickey is the biggest choke artist in LSU history.

i agree he was truly missed this year for rebounding & shot blocking. plus he would have put Craig Victor in the 4 spot & he would have stayed outta foul trouble.

Yes, Simmons did little for LSU and was a distraction.
