Sure, he has done great with football, baseball and WBB, but he destroyed the MBB program and there is no fan support for that sport. Firing Wade killed LSU mens basketball.

WW not being smart enough to avoid paying players from his personal bank account and leaving a paper trail is responsible. The guy is a complete fricking retard

Scott hired a dud coach to replace WW. That’s his fault. He should’ve hired an elite coach.

Who cares. It is basketball. He correctly deduced the fan base cares not for basketball anyway.

He really didn’t have a choice.

I liked WW, but lsu (and Woodward) were stuck between a rock and a hard place with MBB

It really sucks, but it is what it is

So which is it? Should he never have fired him or should he have hired a better coach after rightfully firing him?

or do you just wanna whine?

It’s year one.

We probably get nailed with sanctions if WW was retained. The whole team transferred.

What did you think would happen? If there isn’t improvement next year then we can have those talks. Now isn’t the time. Also, our open to SEC play was very tough.

It was inevitable. Wade is going to get a 10-15 year show cause and since he hasn't cooperated for one minute with the NCAA he will be impossible to employ.

Once the letter came you were losing the top recruits and a couple of players were going to leave. Under Wade this team might have one or two more SEC wins bit likely would have lost a couple more in the OOC schedule. The idea that Wade was still bringing in the recruits under sanctions is just wishful thinking.

Name the elite coaches that LSU has ever hired for men’s hoops.

The table was set for success in women’s hoops and they had an elite coach with a program connection who was willing to make the move. Football and Baseball are elite programs with titles and great facilities. Men’s hoops has NONE of these things.

If McMahon doesn’t work out, guess what- we won’t hire an elite coach to replace him either. The money on offer won’t matter. Just like Bama, Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas, etc, we will have to hire either a retread who we think will bounce back well here (Pearl, Muss, Barnes) or hire another mid-major guy on the rise (Oates. Wade was a mid-major hire, as well).

From what I have read the NCAA had more on the football program than the bball team.

So you are speaking facts?
What did Wade do every year? He brought in top recruits. The rumors have been out there for a couple of years, so why would recruits suddenly get concerned.
Three of the present players were Wade recruits. The idea that the other players would stay is more logical than your "Wishful thinking".
His players seemed to have great respect for the General.
