If you use Amazon, set it up to donate part of your purchase price to St. Jude!

Shop at Amazon Smile

quote:

AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support St. Jude’s Ranch for Children every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at AmazonSmile, you’ll find the exact same low prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate 0.5% of the purchase price* to St. Jude’s Ranch for Children. On your first visit go to smile.amazon.com and search for St. Jude’s Ranch for Children or tax ID 88-6006790, to select us as your charitable organization to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping. AmazonSmile will remember your selection, and then every eligible purchase you make on AmazonSmile will result in a donation to our children!!

i would be willing to donate. Childhood cancer is a terrible thing. My brother went through it. St.judes is an amazing place. Maybe we could make a donation in SIDS name there?

Just a suggestion, but I haven't seen any public statement from Les or LSU. I wouldn't be surprised if Les doesn't have some form of monetary donation in mind. If that's the case, might want to piggy back on it.

The cancer donation is always nice, but an LSU scholarship would be so much more LSU related and beneficial for the program. Miles will probably plan some kind of program or charity scholarship that will be an annual drive.

Maybe Tre can wear a different number next week and Ortis gets 18 for the bama game?

If you want to help the most, a scholarship for a cancer survivor would be the most appropriate.

I can tell you this from someone whose son is battling brain cancer right now. If you have never had a family member go through cancer I am here to tell you the expenses are unbelievable and they can drain literally everything you have.

My son was hoping to play baseball for LSU and he was literally on pace to have a shot at it, switch hitting catcher with a pop time just under 2. He made the 15U Team USA - San Diego International to play in Nagoya, Japan this summer and one week before the trip of his lifetime we went into Rady's Hospital here in San Diego, CA and 8 hours later he was in emergency brain surgery to remove a 5 cm tumor from his brain, and then a follow up surgery 30days later. You wouldn't believe the expenses involved.

If you truly want to honor Sid, do a scholarship in his name for a cancer survivor that is the best way to honor that beautiful young tiger whose life was cut too short.

God Bless

One last thing - I HATE CANCER!!!!!!!!

Dudebro2...I'm so sorry for your family's struggles. I hope and pray that your son beats it! Prayers for you and your family and thanks for the suggestion for someone who has personal experience. I know it's not an easy subject to share with strangers but I appreciate you relating a real world experience.

Sid did play peewee football, maybe someone could find his # and get it to Les. I'm sure if the cancer didn't get to him, he could've been the next great LSU qb. frick Cancer.

Not a fan of the OP calling for every TD follower to contribute. I won't be publicly shamed or challenged into giving to anything. Anyone that does want to give, that is sincerely great. But don't say each person should give. Charitable giving is a very personal choice. That's why there are down votes to the OP.

My man your are a POS, no one is publicly shaming anyone to contribute. How would anyone know if you do or not unless you feel the need to come here & crow about doing so or not. It was a request based on being sympathetic and wanting to do something.

Rember this OP: "So when you give to the poor, don't announce it with trumpet fanfare. This is what hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets in order to be praised by people. I can guarantee this truth: That will be their only reward."

Thank you I can honestly say that my mantra has become "we will take all the prayers you can spare."

Thank you but it pales in comparison to watching the person you love most in life "my son is my only child" suffer from this evil, horrible disease they call cancer.

You had me until the last part.

I think the scholarship idea is better because I think it would have more long term impact.

Call me a cynic, but I am also skeptical about cancer research. I think they (whoever they is) care more about treatment than cure.

However, a donation to a place like St. Jude is good because of the care they provide for kids who already have cancer and need treatment.

Agreed. I was a little fired up about that. A little football smack talk is one thing. Lives and health are sacred

To get a cure you have to have a treatment first. You can't cure cancer is someone that doesn't have cancer. You can try to prevent it, but how are you going to prevent DNA damage from occurring and getting past the body's defense mechanisms?

I was thinking the LSU Childrens hospital to keep it LSU related, but I have no objections to St. Jude either.
