Many times he looked left, then came back to throw to his right. He was looking off DB's, and going through his progressions. Just wish it had come much sooner like during last season.

If you saw this Saturday for the first time then either:

A - it's the first game you watched all season

B - you are a dumbass

Given your other threads, I'm going with B

Thought this thread was going to be about his sliding.

But you're right, he was progressing through his 2nd and this reads very effectively.

He’s literally been doing that since his first game. It was pointed out by the announcers in games last year. Only people that just wanted him to fail overlooked it.

He was making reads last season. You could watch his head move from read to read when he had protection. The difference this year is that he now has the confidence to let the ball go quickly into tight windows. He held the ball last year because he lacked this.

Go back to the incomplete pass to Nabors in the end zone in the first quarter. It wasn’t a perfect pass and wasn’t a completion, but it stuck with me. First, there’s no way Daniels lets that ball fly last year. Not in that tight of a window where he had to lead his receiver to the open space. He has the confidence to do that now when he makes the read.

Second, while the ball was thrown a little behind, Daniels still beat the 2 converging safeties in the back of the end zone. This wasn’t a dangerous pass. It was the right read and the right target. He put it where it was either going to be a catch by Nabors or incomplete and Nabors did have a chance to make a spectacular grab.

This play didn’t work out, but others will because Daniels has the confidence to let our great WRs make plays downfield. He’s come a LONG was in a season and a half.

So what I gather from this post is you have not actually watched any game this season and you may be a menstruating female.

Here is how I picture

You see what you want. It’s common. Daniels was never as bad as we laid out.

The FSU game was a terrible game plan. The Arky game first quarter he struggled.

Last year he won us more than he cost us

Oh really? So why last season did he take off and run so quickly, if as you say, he was going through his progressions. The truth was he looked at 1st WR, and if covered he ran.

Last year he threw 2 touchdowns to players who weren't his first read in the first game of the season.

You saw what you wanted to see.

Nope. Go back and watch. He may have run a lot more often last year, but that does not mean he was just making one read. When he had protection, you could watch his head and eyes move through multiple reads. He just didn’t have the confidence to throw guys open or into tight spaces. Now he does.

Having 6 sec to throw is better than 2...

Last year JD appearing to read only 1 wr was mostly a combination of impatience or the pocket collapsing. Also there’s the plays that are actually meant for just 1 read (2-3 guys run off routes RB max protect).
He is much more comfortable in the pocket this year which is why we see him going through his progressions. His timing and rhythm are nearly perfect, his pocket awareness is insane, and his accuracy is off the charts. Honestly he makes it look too easy sometimes.

His moving through progressions was more noticeable due to the time he had. He was able to sit back there (not really moving) and just look the field over until he found someone. He's also not scrambling as quickly as he used to, and when he does he's usually spotted a massive running lane. The slides are nice as well.

We have to give a lot of credit to the Oline on pass protection. They were outstanding. Also, I don't think I've ever seen a group of running backs that protects the passer as well as ours do. The got some nice help from TE's as well.

Also have to credit the coaches too. Auburn would bring a lot of people to the line, and we calmly moved in enough to cover them. When the blitz came, the extra protection was there. If the defensive players would drop out for a zone blitz, the extra protection would read this and go out into patterns. They were well prepared for what Auburn threw at us.

This! The red zone play calling vs FSU in the first half was bad. Kelly all but admitted it and they learned from it. The second half against FSU was not Daniels best half, but dropped passes and IMHO an uncalled PI contributed to that.

As I said after that game if I had to list the reasons we lost that FSU game there were at least 5 ahead of JD5 and I think we know that now.
