I had to miss the game, so I’ve only seen JD highlights.

I’ve searched YouTube for video or the targeting, but can’t find it.

Can someone point me to it please?

Thanks in advance

Thats because it wasn't. It was a "frick you coonasses" from the SEC offices.

It’s very normal for the ball carrier to advance the ball another 3 yards after targeting.

And for there to be no contact to the head or neck area.

Going to keep saying it. If anything it should be targeting on the RB considering he is the one who's is looking straight down and leading with the crown of his helmet, effectively using the helmet as a weapon.

Eta: Not saying targeting should have been called either way. Just saying the RB is the one who initiated the illegal contact.

It was a play that happens a dozen times or more per game, every game, and no one blinks an eye.

Hell, there were several more in the LSU-Florida game AFTER Sams was ejected, but no flags - NOTHING.

That call was complete and total bullshite.

It's one of the worst calls I've ever seen. How that was targeting and the hit on Daniels by Turner wasn't just shows how completely useless this rule is and still doesnt make much sense how its applied.

I was expecting the call to be bad - questionable, but bad.

I had no idea it was that blatantly biased and awful.

Got to quit leading w crown of the helmet. In this case it’s meant for the own player’s safety. I get it. Would have been better if he simply whiffed on the tackle - which he almost did anyway.

Penn and especially Major's attempted tackles before Sam comes up are so indicative of what's wrong with this defense

Anyone have a gif of the Sam hit and the Turner on JD hit side by side?

The only way this type of tackle doesn't happen is a RB can no longer lower his head or even take a step further and cannot hurdle over a defender either. The game is getting ridiculous and being put in hands of officials when it shouldn't be.

His helmet hit his shoulder and in fact did not slow the rb down.

What's so disappointing is that, from time to time, Penn shows some real "want to". On this play, he's lollygagging and watching the play. Lack of consistent effort is a problem with just about every player on our defense.

If the defense can't lower their head, why should the RB be allowed to.

Call it even or don't call it at all when it's two players going low.

Rule is meant to prevent launching and kill shots. Not fricking form tackles on a RB.

I don't think he wasn't trying on this one, he's just not athletic enough to get there/ kinda got juked. There are examples of piss poor effort on his part though (see the Ole Miss game).

Major should've made the tackle though.

The crown of his helmet was damn near perpendicular to the ground. What was it, probably 80 degrees from the ground?

That isn't targeting in the slightest.
