miles is not a good ingame coach
Delay of game to start a half.
NCAA record => 45 OOC wins in a row. That is an audacious stat!

quote:I fully acknowledge that bama has been better but, they're the only team with that claim. auburn hasn't been better, maybe equal with one more championship win, same number of appearances plus the bad seasons. I think they look better now but, lsu will look better historically. moreover, it remains to be seen if they can keep up with lsu's pace of high win numbers.
You think Bama and Auburn care about # of wins vs actually winning things?
getting into the ncg isn't in the hands of the team. even if a team goes undefeated, they can get left out. auburn '04 is a perfect example. how much a team wins is in the hands of the team. that's why I think the team that wins more consistently will be looked on more favorably in the long term.
quote:first, miles isn't done as lsu coach. he might win another sec championship. second, he's already had as much as anyone not named saban and his last was just 2 seasons ago. his legacy is already secured.
the perspective is no more SEC championships or national championships
btw, are we really criticizing him for not winning ENOUGH national championships in this era of the sec west? honestly, that's unreasonable

quote:this is a really good perspective
Except for a couple of years, LSU under Les Miles has consistently been in position late in the season to win the SEC championship if not the national championship

quote:I don't agree.
Last night we lose big if Wisc does not lose that Nose Guard, plus they lost the other lineman early
quote:OH MY GOSH THIS WILL NEVER DIE!!!!!!! how many years of this has to happen before miles is actually A GOOD COACH? he's beating the best competition every season despite massive losses to the nfl.
Without more, Les Miles won last night on talent, good fortunes for other team losing a few key players and his def coordinator making great changes.
i'll say it again, if your description is right, then the sec isn't the toughest conference and/or miles is not playing the best competition. it's just plain illogical and I can't understand why people don't see that.
quote:so wait, the coaches are actually good? what are you saying? miles wanted to lose but, they somehow convinced him otherwise? you know miles coaches with them right? he's in gameplan meetings with them all week. how can they make good adjustments and he's just completely uninvolved. people will say anything to prevent giving miles ANY credit. it's unbelievable.
his coordinators making some changes

Because people are stupid. Actually pretty easy to understand.

I just don't get Les Miles. I personally think that he is getting to comfortable. We play close games with teams that we should just destroy. I never hear anyone challenge him. Why is it that we don't destroy teams on the scoreboard or in the game. I'm just tired of games like this. We need to let him no that even though he is winning games; it's not acceptable.

Wow, this is retarded...unless it's sarcasm, but I fear not..
Winning is not enough we have to do it in a manner to please this guy...
Exactly what the OP is talking about

Any one got a story on that? Was the kicker out there when they started the play clock?

LSU has a coach that damn near every college team would love to have, but when he wins, it is, to some of the fans, "despite his bumbling," blind luck, his assistant coaches, the ineptitude of the opposing team, etc.
No coach who uses terrible game plans, is inept, and relies on luck has anything close to the won-loss record of Les Miles in the SEC.
This was the opening game against a ranked team. The comeback was awesome.

Why would we take advice from someone who writes "we need to let him no" anything?

Thank you..
Once again Miles sucks because he hires great assistants and recruits great talent.

So tired of the excessive, over-the-top bitching about the most successful coach ever at LSU. He is still winning, so let it go. This is the greatest era of LSU football EVER. Of course he could do some things better, and I am certain he would admit the same, but for all of our sake, stop with the, "Les has got to go," crap.
ETA: Although I responded to SmackDaniels, it was in no way directed at him.

Agreed. I'm getting sick of hearing Miles haters say the word luck. By the way they throw that word around he is far and away the luckiest person in the universe.

Why don't we 1st challenge you. Why do you think we should have destroyed Wisconsin? Wisconsin, in the last 4 yrs ranks like 11th in the nation in wins, were Top 15 in the nation, and were being given 3.5 points by the "experts". So, why were expecting us to "destroy" them.
As to Miles, what is there to get? He leads BCS and SEC teams in wins since 05. Under his direction, LSU easily falls into the Top 5 football programs in the nation in success. Which is some place LSU has never been before in 120 yrs.
When you play in the toughest division of the toughest conference in college football and play regularly one of the toughest SOS in the game, nothing matters more than winning. imo

Les Miles, in all his quirkiness and even with our team's clock management issues, has forgotten more football than 75% of this board will ever know. The thing that blows my mind the most about so many posters on here, is how little resolve they possess. Ready to give up at the first sign of adversity. Pitifully embarrassing.

I agree!
What a bunch of women run wild on this board during the game threads if something goes wrong. It's a good thing the team has balls because many of its negative fans here are ball-less.

quote:isn't it just possible that there is more parity now? with the proliferation of communication technology, coaches have more access to information now more than ever. they know the tendencies of their opponents and gameplan accordingly. in game adjustments and talent make the difference. lsu wins, other teams lose. lsu is just plain better across the board.
We play close games with teams that we should just destroy
and what about chemistry? it's part of winning and miles should get credit for that too.
