We're deep into the post-season and we still haven't sorted out the little things that differentiate the good teams from the GREAT teams.

Case in point — Dunne's abomination of a cast 1/2 on low bar.

No way Jenny Rowland or KJ lets their gymnasts go up on the podium and execute that skill like that.

I have asked before and I’ll ask again after tonight - is gnat as beam coach the issue? Also, we are so lucky that we are in this regional. In almost any other regional we would not have made it through - if they hope to move on it has to be a whole different ballgame tomorrow.

Totally Agree...

Oklahoma 198.0
Florida 197.95
Missouri 197.35

Our beam is so inconsistent. Something needs to change in training. Glad they qualified but it was not a pretty picture.

I mean I haven't been impressed year one, maybe it gets better. We are 7th in the country on beam returning 5/6 routines and adding some good pieces this year. We clearly skipped out on trying to develop certain routines to get in this lineup and remained with the status quo.

Still questionable beam routine construction and I don't feel this team has been confident all season on beam. The key to being a good beam team is being confident. Half the time, 2 random kids in the lineup are having some type of major break.

Haleigh feels like she has gotten worse on beam. Not that she is bad but her confidence seems much lower than where it was during the first few meets of the year. Which is why you are seeing a bunch of checks the last few meets.

You’re just making me feel more down in the dumps. On paper, this team is way too talented for these issues. Dunne being in only one event and having multiple issues on that one event is mind blowing to me. I’m trying so hard not to be negative, but it’s hard to do after a performance like that. I look at the other top teams, and I feel envious. I’m not sure what is going wrong in the mental department with this team. We all know there are issues with both bars and beam coaching. I’m also concerned that it appears Jay just turns a blind eye to issues like they don’t exist at all. Maybe it’s because at times the judges do pretend to not see them, but he should know that will not happen in post season.

Do the all around scores in these regional meets mean anything as far as the gymnasts qualifying for nationals?

Just remembering now that I’ve seemed to catch my breath a little bit that Kathy threw major shade at alyona with her comment “that double layout looks different every time she does it”

Yea that seemed a bit much to say. She clearly struggles with it, not sure why she piled on like that.

They just need to ditch It and do a pirouette into double tuck next year. Jay needs to swallow his pride and do it here. I will never understand why we sacrifice clean execution at the expense of difficulty at times.

I have a gut feeling they take Haleigh out the beam lineup and put Alyona in tomorrow. If she warms up well....

Who would you go with? Haleigh has always been a little nervy on beam, but so has Alyona. Dunne on beam and Elena on bars..the huge mysteries of the season. There is no way in hell that Elena is not a better option on bars than Dean or Brock at this point. Brock has had two falls in competition and Dean one.

I am pretty sure she is injured at this point because there is no way Dean and Brock are better options. I heard she had been training but maybe she is unable to do certain things right now.

they will not throw Dunne out on beam due to lack of experience. If they insert anyone it will be Alyona. Unless someone gets injured, not sure they go elsewhere.

Alyona warmed up super well on beam today. As for bars, Elena warmed up but struggled with her dismount a few times. I think if they’re making a switch tomorrow, it would be Alyona in the 2 spot instead of Sami on beam since sami is still dealing with her ankle injury and we need her on bars (haleigh on beam today was all mental after a fall from Sami and a nervy beam from Desiderio in front of her since she warmed up well and looked good before the meet today). As for bars, Dean over brock and arenas. Yes dean has some form issues but all around she’s more consistent and has the post season day two competition at regionals experience needed to hit tomorrow on bars
