He was a 5 star safety, but he’s not a boundary corner. Why is LSU trying to force him into that role?

You have freshmen like Stamps, Toviano and Hughes along with returning LT Welch who can all play boundary corner.

Why is LSU trying to force Ryan into playing CB?

I don't think the staff wants him there either but they don't really have a ton of options.

But they do have options. Play the highly recruited freshmen that are true boundary corners.

Because it gives us our best chance of winning. It’s funny how you would never question why Elon Musk assigns one programmer to one task and another to a second. But when it comes to football you honestly think your judgement is better than Brian Kelly’s.

Sage seems to always be in the right place at corner but never makes the play.

That’s not giving you the best chance at winning. It’s literally the opposite. He doesn’t have the skill set to be a CB, but he does at safety.

I’d argue that they’re wasting his ability by misusing him on the backfield.

He is the best of the worse. He wasn’t good at nickel or safety so let’s put at CB.

I don’t believe that he wasn’t good at the safety positions, it’s just that we have better safeties.

If we are going to move someone to CB, it should be a WR not a safety. We have a lot of WRs on the roster, and Most WRs also played CB in high school.

Bc he has done better than the others. He has been fine since moving strictly to corner. When he struggled it was at nickel covering the slot. Zy is the only one who was better.

He was out there because of his 3 years experience

I say we make Daniel’s play two way. I think he could play corner Saturday night. Imagine him throwing 4 TD’s and having 2 int’s on D. BJT at String safety and Hilton at FS.

I bet Heard could play in Wingo’s spot on the DL to boot.

That is absolutely ridiculous and wrong.

JD would have 5 TD's because he took one of those int's back to the house for 6.

This shows how little some of you know about football.

You cannot take a player who has not practiced defense at all, doesn’t know the system, doesn’t know the terminology or calls and tell them go play a new position in the biggest game of the year and expect anything but a disaster.

It is beyond idiotic. Just because a WR is fast and athletic doesn’t mean he can just go out and play CB with only 2 weeks of practice.

You have to simplify the defense so much it would not even be a functioning defense.

As bad as he may be, we are better with Sage at CB than we are throwing a WR out there.

Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn’t know the first thing about football at their level.

If we were going to move a WR to CB it would have had to happen pre season.

Sage Ryan has actually been bad at anywhere he plays. He will get attacked Saturday and I fear for us mightily

Anyone have PFF grades? I'd be curious to know what he's graded out at CB since he made the switch

Sage is the highest graded coverage player we have on defense I believe. Maybe out of just the CBs

Maybe, just maybe, the staff has seen them all practice a little bit more than you and they are basing their decisions on that.
