Saban knew his team was in #codebrown mode even before the game:

quote:

"Sitting in the locker room before the game, I was really nervous about the way our team looked because they didn’t look like they usually do," Saban said. "They were kinda quiet and not how they usually are and it was concern. You never know how they're going to respond when they go out there and start playing so I think there was a lot of nervous energy and I think there was a lot of anxiety and I think that's really what I was trying to avoid."

I want this play in the LSU playbook.

Wasn't that in the 1st half?

In my opinion, the highest respect Saban gave was right after the game in his presser when he said that "There are no weaknesses on their offense".

THIS! I was surprised he didn't blame the refs or throw any of his players under the bus. He gave full props to LSU. Unlike Mullen, who after the beat-down his team got from us, blamed it on injuries and the refs.

For him to run the gimmick "Clap, check with me" play in the third quarter resulting in the 67 yard touchdown tells me he knew this LSU team was dominating his Alabama squad.

This is what I've saying. That play call told me he knew that he couldn't beat us straight up. I never would have believed we'd be in a position where Nick Saban would be so afraid of an Ed Orgeron led LSU team that he would have to rely on tricks, but here we are.

Saban has a terrible career percentage of going for it and trying trick plays in close games.

Hes not a great or even a good close game coach IMO.

Hes GOAT at almost everything else though - recruiting, discipline, hustle, technique, etc.

Snapping the ball was not a gimmick play. It’s smart football.

Btw, you know we play ole miss tomorrow?

This was a beat down and he knew it which is why on the sideline several times he just threw his hands up during the game, not in anger, but in resolution, knowing there was nothing he could do to avoid the inevitable!
Yep. Bobby Knight was the same way too. When he knew the other team was just better you didn't see all the antics. It was when he knew his team was the better team and they were just screwing up is when you saw the anger and throwing shite come out.

I wouldn't really call that him paying LSU respect. That was him trying not to lose.

Here we go again. What is your point? We should only talk Ole Miss? The players are going to lose focus? It's laughable every time I see this come up, and it's all too often.
