I heard Ross Dellenger say that Aranda is looking to add a safeties coach instead of outside linebackers coach. I think Ryan Clark would be a good hire. He's a Superbowl winning safety, played along side one of the best safeties in Troy Palomalu and played for Dick Lebeau. He's the head coach of the Bootleggers, so he has relationships with the top skilled players in the state. In the off season, Lsu db's train with him. He's on ESPN so he is a name that players and recruits know. He's young and he has knowledge of the game. Plus you'd still have Corey Raymond there to help out.

I bailed on this board at some point last night so maybe I missed it, but did we give Aranda free reign to bring in his own staff like it was rumored A&M was offering?

Has Ryan Clark coached before? Great player but that doesn't always transfer to coaching. Does he even want to coach?

Should we just hire Kevin Faulk as OC? He’s got a Super Bowl ring and knows a lot of people. Alan Fanaca can be the OL coach. Get Donnie Jones to retire and be the Special Teams coach. I really like Booger as DL coach, and throw in Marcus Spears as his assistant.

I like the idea of him on the staff. He was great player at college & pro level. Listening to him talk, got good grasp of strategies and tactics.
Good idea!

Your sarcasm is duly noted. It seriously that may turn out pretty damn well if that was our squad

Personally Id go with Josh Booty at OC.. he played QB at Evangel and threw for a TON of yards, QB has been our main issue.

I like the idea of a safeties coach. I think it's on a matter of time someone will poach Coach Raymond from us and it'll be nice to kind of groom someone to potentially become his successor.

Is there any indication he wants to coach. He has a pretty cushy gig right now, fly up ESPN for a couple of days talk about sports. Then he comes back to BR to work out and coach 7 on 7 all while getting a decent pay check.

Just because you were a good player does not mean you will be a good coach

For example Aranda never played a down of college football but is an amazing coach

I've heard him say in an interview his goal is to become the first black head coach at lsu.
