The issue isnt what he's "entitled" to. He has the right to do whatever he wants. Just as you and I do. However, my rights end where yours begin. And vice versa. The issue with Drew is that instead of simply practicing his Constitutional rights and allowing others to practice theirs, he decided to disrespect how others choose to practice their freedom of speech. No one is judging him for standing. He shouldnt judge then for kneeling. Respect works both ways. And worse, he decided to make the kneeling about himself. Bringing up his grandfathers. That is very selfish. It has nothing to do with his grandfathers. He doesnt have to agree with what they are doing. He just doesn't have the right to tell them how they should practice their rights. That simple.

No. Because blacks, just like liberals, dems, lesbians, trans, et al work from emotion. Not fact. You can't argue or reason with them.

I wonder why or does that matter? Could it be they weren't eligible for the millions of acres of free land given away by the federal government that led to white wealth? Or the home mortgages offered for white families to accumulate generational wealth? Or the farm subsidies and land grant colleges to support farms that blacks were not allowed to participate in? Or the racism that prevented them from obtaining high paying jobs that lead to generational wealth? Or the destruction of prosperous black communities throughout the country by racist mobs. Or the theft of their land by racists during Jim Crow? Or the redlining that devalued the property they were able to purchase? Or the historically higher unemployment, lower wages, and last hired first fired situation for black Americans?

To ignore the historical variables that effect the financial status of African Americans is to be disingenuous in labeling African Americans as somehow defective or less than white people. But that is what racists do.

This deserves a Mic Drop. Bravo

he decided to disrespect
How did he "disrespect"?

I'm sorry, but I missed where he specifically called somebody or some out?

quote:

Respect works both ways.
Boy, if there was ever a statement of complete irony right now...

quote:

And worse, he decided to make the kneeling about himself
Well, because he was asked how he felt about it. So, he kept it about himself.

quote:

Bringing up his grandfathers.
Well yeah, that was his point. He was giving the driving force behind why he chooses to stand during the NA.

quote:

That is very selfish.
No it's not.

quote:

It has nothing to do with his grandfathers.
Actually, it has everything to do with them. Again, that is his motivation.

quote:

He just doesn't have the right to tell them how they should practice their rights.
And he didn't say anything or allude how others should respond during that conversation. He simply said that he will not disrespect the flag like that. You're adding all kind of words to his mouth and embellishing the story.

Will the NFL fans ever say they’ve had enough? My life was ok without sports these 3 months. I want them to come back but I’m less tolerant of all the social justice warriors. Even if I ignore all the social media platforms, these things will be brought up in every broadcast . When will the message run out of audience?

Try a thought experiment:
"I don't get the blowback. Why isn't Kaepernick entitled to his opinion on how he chooses to respect the flag and anthem?"

It's not like Brees got arrested for expressing his opinion, so no one is denying that he is entitled to it. He simply failed to consider any perspective outside that of his own ancestry, which is what real men are called do right now...Instead, he just made it about him.

So he's getting blowback for wimping out.
Lots of black grandpas fought and died in American wars too, right Drew?

Ryan Clark is a dumbass loud mouth. Did you not see how he acted during the LSU run? This after he basically said Joe Burrow sucked. Same as he has said about Brennan. Something tells me Clark wants a black QB at LSU.

I didn't say that he wasn't. In fact, I posted on here when he and Reid were kneeling that I didn't have a problem with it because it's their right as Americans to do so.
quote:

he just made it about him

The interviewer made it about Brees when he asked him specifically how he would handle people kneeling in the upcoming season. Drew gave his opinion and he gave his reasons why. There is nothing wrong with that. It doesn't mean that he doesn't support the message or that he's an enemy of black people or anti black people and that's what some of the responses were.
