I didn't realize Russell Sheppard did so well this last week, but according to Fantasyguru.com, he has taken over the #2 WR position in Tampa Bay with Vincent Jackson on IR.

quote:

Russell Shepard (TB) – With Vincent Jackson landing on the IR with his knee injury, Shepard has taken over as the #2 WR on the outside across from Mike Evans. In his first game as a starter, Shepard finished with 5/77/1 receiving on 6 targets against the 49ers in Week 7, scoring on a red-zone target. Sheppard is hardly a reliable option going forward, considering that he had just 10 career catches before his career-best game in Week 7, but Jameis Winston certainly needs someone to throw it to outside of Evans.

Excellant hard work and determination was never his problem. Very unlikely career for that young man .

Proud of him for hanging in there.
Still think we drastically underutilized this guy. Shoulda fed him the ball WAY more.

I didn't realize that either so thank you for posting.

Not sure if accurate but I think that would mean LSU had 3 WRs on the same team that are now starters (Beckham, Landry, Shepard) in the NFL plus another (James Wright) that is getting playing time and has caught a few passes this year.

I hope I can snag him on waivers! Allen Robinson is killing my team's mojo.

I could catch better than he could in his early days of transitioning from QB to WR.
I was slower than dirt but if it was anywhere near me, I got it. I was terrified of being beat to shite by LBs, but, I could make the catch.

he was awful. (edited to add remembering him failing to make key catch in big game when he came back for the ball. )

his best thing was the glorious inside sweep "the annexation of Panama". that required QB to hand him the ball.

He also wears the Captain "C" and is a standout special teamer.

Guy will get his pension for sure.

we knew this day was coming. I did anyway, because WR's do get injuries and his team don't have much.

I hope he makes it. I really do. And I am glad he made it long enough to get his pension. I am guessing this is year 5.

More examples of talent we wasted. Averages ten yards per carry as a freshman. Quit giving him the ball.

I hope Coach O welcomes him back with open arms. He was a great recruiter when he was here and loved LSU. Would love to seem him get directly involved with the program again.

Russell Sheppard
Alfred Blue
James Wright
Spencer Ware

all have had a ton of success in the NFL and were unable to find such success at LSU. This is why Les Miles is no longer the coach.
