Is it just me or dishes look gassed at the end of that run? Hell I would have been puking after 40 yds though.

miles does not like that kind of back and it doesn't matter how many long runs or tds he scores. shep is basically a quicker, faster ford. we have to get the ball in the hands of playmakers and not just bruisers.

One of the most blatant misuse of personnel I have witnessed at LSU. The dude awesome out of the backfield.

I agree. I have no idea why we don't use him more in the backfield. His speed is amazing.

His average yards per carry for his career is pretty stout, but they keep sending him downfield to catch the ball.

I completely know where you're coming from.

He has break away speed, it should be used more, and not to get him downfield to catch a pass.

Do what? I freaking love Rusty but Ford would smoke hime and he isnt fragile out of the back field. Rusty couldnt take 20 hits a game thats why les has him as a WR. Like a misused percy harvin basically. Rusty isnt as fast as people think he is. Dude was wide open and ran out of gas and got chased down by a Towson DB. Ford would have been untouched.

The guy is amazingly fast, you have to give him that much.

Ford is as well.

Both are playmakers however Shep doesn't get his share of carries IMO.

That's what that poster was getting at and I agree with him.

doubt it. I think Shep's a tad faster when it comes to straight line speed. or at least as fast. neither are super duper burners though (and I'm not even talking world class fast like Trindon or Bennie).

You could argue that every RB on our team doesnt get their fair share of the carries though. Thats why coach has him as a wide reciever. He has just had the misfortune of being a WR with some of the crappiest QB play of all time throwing the ball to him. I followed Rustys recruiting a good bit and it had been a long time since I had liked a recruit that much. I was pretty upset when it was announced he was going to play WR instead of QB. He has been a great guy to have on the team and you never hear him complain.

But are not OBJ and Landry better recievers? And Blue, Ford, Hilliard and Ware better Rb's? Its hard for him to get touches and especially with a struggling offense.

He is fast. But he has gotten ran down a few times in his career. I just dont think he is as fast as people think. Ford has got wheels, and i would imagine in a 40 Ford would beat him and people would be pretty disappointed in Sheps time.

Top end speed and acceleration are different. Shepard may not have top end speed, but he accelerates incredibly well.

I actually think that shotgun draw to him Saturday will be seen as well as the fake draw and pass to him (or the TE) down the middle seam for a big gain. He'll also get some catches out of the backfield. I say he exploits the Florida D. I have a feeling we have been working on something a little different in the passing game to make sure people honor it. Les Wants to run the ball and he said Saturday night that if we want to run we got to be able to pass with 8 in the box. I think it happens.

Does that mean Les will let him participate for 8 plays total and have 3 touches?

I think he'd be great at some toss sweeps pull both guards and let him go to town.

Shep has always had terrible technique when finishing runs, there is no way someone that fast should be getting tackled from behind.

I still can't believe the staff hasn't put together a wildcat package with Ware and Shep(motion back).
