He was thrown to a hell of a lot more times than 6.

No he hasn't. He hardly touched the field, and when he did was almost never targeted.

I'm just glad he's getting playing time today and hopefully can make an NFL team.

Wish we could've done more with him

Shep had 162 total touches in his four years, which comes out to 3 touches per game. Considering all the hype surrounding Shep during his time at LSU, that's a crazy stat.

Shep averaged nearly 7ypc on a paltry 104 rushes in his career. I think this is an area where the coaching staff clearly failed him.

I've been saying this for a few years now. Had we not had such a log jam already at RB while he was here, he would have absolutely flourished as a DeAnthony Thomas type. He was never a consistent WR threat and all of his huge plays came out of the backfield

Year 1 - can't beat out Jarrett Lee or Jordan Jefferson
Year 2 - can't catch to save his lifw as a WR
Year 3 - beat out by more than one freshman WR
Year 4 - coaching staff realizes he's not a qb, not top 4 as a WR, not top 4 as a RB.

What do you want the coaches to do? They gave him every opportunity to be a dominant player. I would say they forced themselves to try to get him the ball many different ways. Still, freshman after freshman at multiple positions kept beating him out.

Son, if you think our offensive staff gives players EVERY opportunity to be dominant, then you're delusional

I don't think Shep is the talent that we all thought he'd be coming out of high school, but the guy could make some plays with the ball in his hands. There was zero creativity in how we got him the ball.

This is an understatement. However, that same comment could be made regarding every RB and WR on our team over the past three years.

This

You don't necessarily have to run traditional offenses with explosive players like RS. Find a way to use him...

His pro career or lack thereof will decide this argument once and for all.

You'd think that but they'll just say he couldn't make the league because Miles never gave him the ball.

Had he been the same exact player with a 3* ranking from the recruiting sites, people wouldn't know who he was. He deserves special plays designed for him as much as other backups like Jarrett Fobbs, James Wright, Armand Willams and Kadron Boone. It seems like everyone likes the guy personally, but PT must be earned. He got passed on the depth chart but I guess we all know Miles likes to play young guys, he has no loyalty towards seniors.
