Can someone inform me why in the hell Condoleeza Rice is on the selection committee??

She's a bit of a sports fanatic. She'll do fine.

I object to Condoleeza Rice being part of the process.

Rice being on the committee should be well behind the sitting athletic directors on people's lists of problems.
I just don't see the playoff being any better or worse than the BCS system was.

this playoff system is going to be screwed up because of appointments like her;people that don't know jack shite about college football and may very well vote for teams like women place bets on horses and dogs....."I really like the #6 dog as he's cute, wearing red and his number coincides with the day of our first date". this is going to be all about politics and regionalism. the SEC is gonna get fricked.

I think I read somewhere that she's a huge Alabama fan.
And she supposedly did a lot of work with her college.
Give me a sec and I ll see if I can find it...
Edit: here it is LINK
I'm not saying I agree with her position on the committee, just trying to answer the question of why she's on it.

I just don't get why they needed a selection committee.
They should have taken the system exactly as it was and put the top 4 ranked teams in a playoff.

Strupid not to use the BCS system for seeding. Humans will frick it up.
Also stupid to play in bowl games for semis...should be a true playoff and highest seed gets a home game.

Yeah, but she has different reproductive parts than us. She should GTFO.

Not to worry guy's as long as Slive is SEC. Comm. Bama will always be there!

There's nothing in the rules about winning conference championships. In fact, that would be very unfair to those teams inhabiting the toughest conferences.
In 2011 Alabama had the second best regular season in the USA. They got exactly what they deserved which was a shot at the title.

This is highly debatable at least.

3rd, I'd say. Furthermore, why exactly, in the frick, are AD's allowed on this committee? Integrity is the criteria? So you pick Archie Manning?

It is my understanding that they won't be allowed in the discussions when teams from their conference are involved.

So, according to the Chart in the link ( LINK), the Quarterfinals are on 31 December and 01 January, and then the winners of those play either the next day or the SAME day for the semifinal (depending on the Bowl). Either there is a grievous error in the chart or the committee is really dumb--how many teams can be expected to play two football games in two days? I believe that the semifinals should be played somewhere around 07 January and the Championship game on 12 January (if the dates I saw are correct).
Posted on 5/19/14 at 10:12 am to drdrfaulkner
You're looking at the chart wrong. The two semi's and the rotation bowls will be played in the New Years Eve/New Years day timeframe (or thereabouts, depending on when Sunday falls). The CG will be a week or so later.

You weren't very good with charts growing up were you....

So the four other bowls are not quarterfinals? The photo is confusing--it can lead one to deduce that the four other bowls are quarterfinals. So, the photo may mislead someone with four college degrees (2 in biology and 2 in Education) to deduce there are eight teams that are in the mix instead of four. And I will not render an insult to counter yours.
