Wouldnt be mad about it at all. Always liked Kyle and he has NFL experience and did a great job at Ruston. May not have college coaching experience but, if he approaches coaching the way that he approaches every other challenge, he will be great.

Would love the technical experience and passion that Kyle will bring to the Defense. I'm hoping those strengths will also translate to recruiting success of DLine players, over time.

Great news for Ahmad Breaux

I never found out why he decided to step away from coaching at Ruston

Not typically a fan of the “one of us” hires but I have a good feeling the hire would be a hit

I hope he will be fantastic, but when people say stuff like this I find it funny

This would be a terrible hire. No college coaching experience whatsoever, no recruiting experience, no developmental track record…this is not the place for training wheels. LSU is a premier brand and university with historic notoriety. I expect an established coach.

Kyle was a fantastic Tiger and had a good career in the league, but we’ve tried the “former player” hire (remember Kevin Faulk) and it didn’t work.

I agree. If you can coach, you can coach. Adjustments from one league to another is much easier for a coach than a player

I grew up in Ruston, worked with Kyle’s dad, and know Kyle. He coached for free at Ruston until they made him draw a salary. He donated a lot of money to the program too. Kyle helped turn Ruston’s defense around dramatically. He has a great relationship with the head coach at RHS. Kyle got to spend a lot of time with his family, helped RHS become relevant again, and it was time to take the next step. He will be a great addition to the LSU program. I’m not worried about his recruiting prowess either. It’s hard not to like him if you meet the man. He’s an excellent coach. Buffalo was wanting him to be an analyst to help him take his career to the next level.

He announced he was stepping away from coaching at RHS back in January. Was he contemplating a job with Buffalo before the LSU job opened up?

Yes. He had been going to Buffalo quite a bit. He waited until after the football program had their banquet to announce he was stepping down. Kyle was going to most probably be an analyst and start his career there. They love him up there. He will be a great coach. The players at RHS loved him. Played hard for him. This is a great hire.
