Why? Trying to save Evans for Monday?
Shores is more valuable as a starter and Evans as a reliever

Shores has very much earned his bullpen role. Might be valuable as an Sec tourney starter but not tomorrow

Shores role going forward then
Innings eater when game's decided. 4th starter in regional if necessary

The problems is his misses aren't close, and his fast ball has little to no run most of the time. If he hits the zone, it's often a flat BP four seamer.

Better score some runs

don't forget that Schmidt and noot have been really good lately but that's midweek

I would start Shores tbh. See if he can find his groove but have Evans ready
I can’t think of a worse idea. Shores gives up runs very quickly. Walks, hits and next thing you know you look up and LSU is down 2 and you barely blinked your eyes. Evans deserves a chance to pitch with a clean slate. Shores won’t allow a clean slate.

You’re right. Shores just ain’t there yet. I hope he’ll get there around sec tourn. or regional time, but we’ll see.

Downvote all you want, but it doesn’t change the fact that LSU is going to play a Game not a Match.

Nah, I haven’t given up on Shores, but you start Evans. He might give you seven innings and you’d never need Shores. Why take that risk on a weekend.

In baseball, a rubber match refers to the final game of a series when the two teams have split the previous games evenly. For example, in a 3-game series, if one team wins Game 1 and the other wins Game 2, Game 3 is the rubber match—the one that decides who wins the series.
This term can apply to both Major League Baseball and other levels like college or high school ball.

Excited about Evans today...but it is his first SEC road start, and he is a true Freshman. While Shores lacks consistency, he has shown he has "the stuff" and has the experience of being a starter. If Evans struggles, go to Shores first and save Cowen for the end. If Cowan isn't going to start, he is more valuable late game. Still have Ware, Primeaux, Mayer, Benge and Schmidt available if needed in match up spots as well
