I agree that Percy would not have been utilized as well if he came here. Our offense just wouldn't have allowed him to shine like he did at Florida.

Shep should have went to Oregon

Oregon wasn't a power when Shep was a senior. That's the year Chip took over.
But I think he would have shined there.

He had over 100 carries in his LSU career. He averaged 6.9 yards a carry. If you want to take out the Towson carry, he still averaged 6.2 yards

But they weren't how they are now.

Shep helped bring in the class that we had that year. He gave it his all and was totally misused. I hope that he catches on with a team like the Saints. He could be a fine NFL player. And the haters need to shut up.

I agree. Shep is the man. One of my favorite players ever. Really hope he has a good NFL career

Other than PP I can't think of another recruit everyone was head over heals we signed.

RS10 is a TIGER and will always be.
I will back him no matter what. His contributions on and off the field have earned my respect.
He was a huge impact guy for us recruiting and I love that he finished his degree with us this year.
Thank you RS for being a class act on and off the field.

quote:I'm curious why he never was used to return kickoffs at LSU. It must have been a concern with ball security because there is nothing to suggest he didn't have the open field running skills or speed for kickoff returns.
He was used the best way he could be used.

Even Peterson wasn't used in the return game until his last year. The reason is because of bad decision making.

hes a speed guy. that always puts on a good combine show

I wish him the best of luck

Exactly!!!! But that's a PERFECT example of how sunshine pumping positigers justify Miles' past and continued success at LSU and utilize such skewed statistics to support their argument! What ashame!!!
Not to take away from what Russell Sheppard did do for LSU. He was a great ambassador, and an even better recruiter for LSU, and for that RS, I for one am forever grateful!!

Damn. This isn't good. He needs to fail hard or this will make Les look bad. I'm not accepting that.
bullshite! RS just wasn't as good as four great receivers that were in front of him.

With statistics that disprove your argument?
Sky wasn't falling in 2006 and sure as shite isn't falling now....

Thanks for the sanity. RS had ZERO besides speed, and his speed didn't show up that great on the field. I don't ever recall him getting yac unless they were easy yards. I never remember him faking anyone out the way OBJ sometimes does. A few times in his career - probably when the coaches saw a defensive misalignment or tendency - Shep took a jet sweep and ran around the end untouched for big yardage. That's credit to the team not the ball carrier. It's not like when Hill takes what should be a five yard carry, trucks a safety, then can't be caught by other DBs - that's credit to the back. Bottom line: I never saw Shep gain yards at LSU that we wouldn't have gained without him. Plug in OBJ on the jet sweeps - same results. Plug in anyone on his pass receptions - same results (maybe better).

Percy Harvin wouldn't have been Percy Harvin under Miles.
Didn't nail it! RS is not the same athlete as Percy Harvin. Not even close. It's like saying Karnell Hatcher was mishandled by the coaches or else he'd have been another PP7. Just no!
