Nothing official.

If you have seen Southern play you would know that Ross wouldn't be the guy to give them the wobbly knee. They will stand in there and get some good hacks in off of him. The softer throwing pitchers and lefties are what give them problems at the plate. Now Coleman and Ranuado would simply over power them but I think they will get some good cuts in off of Ross

If his cutter is on, SU will look dumb. If its the Ole Miss, Arky, Vandy Austin Ross SU will be lucky to get 5 hits.
If its the UT Austin Ross, maybe 8.

I can agree that if Ross' breaking stuff is on then SU will have trouble but he won't be able to rely on just his fastball to have a dominant performance

In a 4 team regional tournament, winning the first 2 games are huge. I would not mess around with any team now. They pretty much are all decent competition at this time.
I hope PM goes with Renauldo and Coleman in games 1 and 2 and hopefully we'll be in a position for Ross to wrap it all up in game 3.

They will get some good cuts off Ross but not enough of them...It's Ross on Friday @ 1PM!

Personally, I'd pitch Bradshaw against Southern.
I'd pitch Ross. Bradshaw can help in a later relief role in game 2 or 3 and Ross can't. Bradshaw pitches 7 innings Friday, he can't help in relief at all this weekend.......maybe an inning Sunday if we absolutely had to have him but probably, not at all.

1 Ross
2 Ranaudo
3 Coleman
4 Bradshaw, if nec
5 Cain, if nec
You do NOT throw your #1 guy against a 4 seed unless you want to relive the '92 BR regional all over again when Skip threw Lloyd Peever against Providence.
If we cannot beat Southern with our #3 SEC starter and cannot beat their #1 coming off a ton of pitches in the SWAC tourney, then we don't deserve to go far. Also, we need to get Ross into the action ASAP as he was the first pitcher we threw in the SECt.
Baylor and Minn are legit threats, IMO, no matter what each did in the regular season. Anyone can get hot. We need to save our aces for them. No need to waste Ranaudo on a team that Matulis beat.

What he said. I think, also, that if Coach Cador wants to win a game, he'd be wise to save Richard for Saturday. He's their only solid pitcher and their best chance at winning. But he's a competitor, and a great baseball coach, and I'm sure he'll end up throwing Richard at us Friday.

It was worth a shot. I can't say I'm an SU baseball expert. Every time I ever see someone pitching well for them, though, it seems to be him. And, let's face it. Southern faces their best competition in the midweek.

The ace is considered to be Maloy and I still hold that he will start Friday. However, I could be dead wrong about this.
I've looked at SU's stats and you are right about Maloy. Good stats regardless of the competition.

like RMC said Richard isnt even a weekend starter for SU.

Just talked to my brother, who is on the team, and he says it looks like Richard may go game one. I wouldnt be surprised to see Maloy though

My point is just that SU faces the better teams in the midweek, not on the weekend. Not a knock at the SWAC, but it is what it is. If he is solid against those OOC midweek opponents, I'd be inclined to go with him Friday.
