Bobby challenged Les to the ALS ice bucket challenge...so obviously they're BFFs and agree on all financial matters

Because we all know Bobby sacrifices so much time and energy on the state, he can't possibly receive any criticism.

Tenured professors who teach two classes, pull six figure salaries, and do not bring in research dollars are more damaging to LSU's budget situation than a head coach's silence. Particularly when that head coach's team is responsible for the vast majority of the $7 million that is contributed to LSU's academic side.
Many of his collegues wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for Les Miles and his "not much on offense" program.
Again, all he said was that Les Miles and the team may be affected by the school shutting down classes, which is true if that extreme were to happen. Add in Miles known significant support for Jindal and he has a right to state his concerns. Why wouldn't you expect a big figure connected to LSU to stay quiet on this on either side?
Miles saying something would have a significant effect because stupidly people value his opinion more than others in regards to these things.
Again, LSU made them money, not Les. Acting like another coach in Les' place would make LSU significantly less money since 2005 is just plain idiotic.

his concerns about what? if Miles does support Jindal...what does that matter?

because he's a fricking football coach. maybe the state Legislature should contact Sean Payton next time they spend money on the Superdome

and once again...you're completely missing the point.
psst. you're agenda is showing

In all honesty though, does this peckerwood really think anyone gives a damp about what Miles says on this issue or that it will change anything.
Les Miles speaking up could easily help the issue gain traction with more average citizens. Politicians will do whatever they can get away with, and while I'm sure none of them personally give a shite what Les Miles thinks, if he spoke out and that caused more and more people to voice their opinions or maybe go to this rally downtown that I'm about to head to, that could very well make a difference.
And to anyone who thinks that this is just fear mongering, you need to get your heads out of the sand. The fact is, the legislature laid out for LSU and all state universities a worst case scenario and told them to be prepared for it. The result of that worst case scenario would be exigency. Is it likely to actually happen? I don't think so. But the very fact that term has needed to be discussed has already done great harm to the reputation of this state. You can expect to see more and more faculty at all state universities fleeing for positions at equal or lesser institutions elsewhere simply for job security. And even though exigency isn't likely this go around, the fact that we're this close and that Jindal and the legislature still don't seem to be at all deterred from raiding the higher education budget as their only tool for keeping the state solvent, there's no reason to suspect they won't force our state universities into exigency next year or the year after. It's looking like Vitter is gonna be the front runner to replace Jindal, and while those two absolutely hate each other, it's not like Vitter is any better than Jindal.
The legislature did make some progress by agreeing to limit future increases to TOPS. Jindal of course was very much against that even though he likes to pretend to be a fiscally responsible conservative. He will likely veto that bill, because he's too chicken shite to actually do anything that would be unpopular with his base.

What's your issue with his comments? Just like Drew Brees, Miles is a huge supporter and donor for Jindal to a degree for both it's pathetic. He has been quiet on it, and I am sorry that some LSU fans give more of a crap about football than they do about the academic institution that happens to be linked to their favorite team.
I think they are going to an extreme with the fear push, but Jindal is a POS and Miles loves the dude for whatever damn reason.
Half the fan base thinks miles is a functioning retard. Why on earth would him saying anything do any good? You arse hats say he lies and don't believe a word he says anyway.

the fear mongering and scare tactics came from them screaming "bankruptcy". which is not an option...but most people don't know that.
so yes...it was fear mongering. and it backfired

Half of the OT/Rant thinks he's a retard. If Les Miles had gone on the radio yesterday and urged the citizens of this state join the march on the capitol that's happening later today, I'm sure most people on this board would ignore him, but I bet a lot of others would listen and it would probably do a lot to increase the turnout.

Of course your blind love for Les makes you ignore any criticism of him or simply call it bullshite.
So you are saying that something that could be detrimental to his football team should just be completely ignored and he shouldn't be thinking about it at all?
I like Les, and he's done a very good job while at LSU, but he's not a once in a generation coach, nor is he irreplaceable. LSU may not have done as well, but they weren't going to lose 60% of the money they got over the past several years because another coach took over.
Your agenda shows more than anyone's, but of course you are just a "true" LSU fan.

Under the state constitution education and health care are the only areas that can be touched mid-year. Why isn't that being addressed? The legislatures continue to kick the can down the road and avoid a convention to amend the Constitution and no one gives a flip until the annual mid year budget cuts.

Some state universities need to go under.
Grambling: 30.9% Graduation rate
SUNO: 17.5%
UNO: 34.5%
Southern U and A&M: 27.6%
LSU Shreveport: 26.9%
Northwestern: 36%
Why should all of these under-performing schools continue to be bailed out by Louisiana taxpayers? They are part of the problem. Propping up failing universities is not the solution.

First off, that isn't all he said.
Second, where is this known significant support coming from?
Third, that isn't Les's job

You know what else would help increase student turnout? Having the foresight to do a march sooner and not schedule it during dead week. It's not like this issue came out of no where.

I think that is part of Joe and the LSU admin's jobs, not Les Miles.
