Assuming A&M/Texas becomes a mid-season game...

Who would you prefer:

Arkansas
Mizzou
Oklahoma
Texas
Texas A&M

Doesn’t matter to me as long we don’t have to play on Thanksgiving day or Black Friday

If they move A&M vs UT to thanksgiving, then we get the golden boot.

Missouri goes back to OU for the “Tiger-Sooner Peace Pipe”

Going by the SEC’s track record of trying to force a new rivalry on LSU every time they add new members to the SEC I can see LSU and Oklahoma being the rivalry week game.

A&M

Let them play Texas somewhere else in the schedule and let Texas play OU at the end of the season.

Maybe, but I don’t see it happening.
A&M & LSU at least made sense geographically. I think the point of doing “rivalry week” around thanksgiving weekend is that the fanbases are relatively close to each other.

They made the change in 2012 bc they weren’t gonna make A&M vs Missouri a thing & the matchups made sense to split LSU & Arkansas

Texas and OU game will more than likely stay the second week in October and played in the cotton bowl during the state fair. I am willing to bet that is one thing that was agreed on when they made the move to the SEC.

An LSU-OU game Week 12, every year sounds fun as hell to me.

Texas vs. Arky would be a good year-ender for the Longhorns.

“Rivalry” is not arbitrarily decided.

None. I admit that selfishly I would like to see the UF game become the Rivalry week game. The games are always interesting. A nail biter or blow out, seemingly they all come with some kind of "Big play" or drama and frankly the UF fans are fun to TIGER BAIT!

If that's a permanent matchup they're going to be each other's Thanksgiving game, why would you assume it's a midseason game?

Mizzou and OU fit each other more as former Big 8 teams if Bedlam does indeed go away then they'll probably play each other

That leaves us with Arkansas. Which I'd be fine with and so would the Hogs. The only issue with that is idk if the SEC would give Arkansas as a permanent opponent.

As for Texas A&M I've always advocated that we should be each other's SEC opener ever year. We did use to open the season against each other very often back when Aggie was in the SWC, so that's more traditional than Thanksgiving especially if they start playing Texas again every year which is their traditional Thanksgiving game.

Texas biggest rival is Oklahoma, not Texas A&M so when all SEC rivals pair off LSU and Texas A&M are the only two left standing so it’s A&M, by default.

The rivalry is centered on the Texas State Fair, that game should remain early October

That's assuming they're doing the 1-7-7 thing, and Texas/OU will remain during the weekend of the fair, not Thanksgiving so that means Texas would rotate Thanksgiving games. We'd probably do the same. Most like LSU-TAMU-Arkansas-Texas would rotate every year in that case.

Texas-Aggie, Texas-Hogs rotation
LSU-Aggie, LSU-Hogs rotation

I would love to see Texas vs LSU every year. We already play aTm, and we play for The Boot with Ark. Mizzou or OU do not seem as exciting playing Texas every year.

Texas...

Bring back Tulane to get a little breather before the SECCG.

First of all, Texas-OU is not ever moving to the end of the season. It takes place in Dallas during the Texas State Fair in October. Period.

If we look across the SEC, we see that 4 teams play in-state ACC opponents:
Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Kentucky

Four other pairs of teams are in state rivals
Alabama - Auburn
Ole Miss - Miss State
Texas - A&M
Tennessee - Vandy

Which leaves
LSU
Oklahoma
Arkansas
Missouri

I think it's likely - if there are 3 permanent opponents - that ours will be A&M, Alabama and Ole Miss, all of whom have an instate rival. This would leave us to play a rotation from Oklahoma and Arkansas on the final weekend. Unless, of course, they give us Arky or Oklahoma as a permanent.

If there are 1 permanent opponent, then I can see what someone posted earlier being a rotation among Texas, Arky, LSU, A&M, where we would play A&M or Arky on the final week.

Either way, I do not believe that we will end the season with the same matchup every year.
