Local kid from Lafayette. One of LSU's leaders when he was playing with us and at Alabama.

Self inflicted. Please send up prayers. He was a great guy with a big heart. If you ever see someone battling depression, talk to them. Try to get them to open up/get help and maybe just maybe it could help.

I don't know much about this person but can strongly agree and urge the effort to try and help someone dealing with depression. Emotional issues can be a silent killer.

This is just me but I hate hearing this stuff spikes this time of year. Why do we make Christmas into what it is? This should really be another thread but damn...

Damn. Had freshman math with Rocky at LSU in 2000. Got to know him a bit. The next couple years we found ourselves battling against each other in juco baseball, he at Chipola and I at a school in Alabama. We always talked LSU football when the games were over. Sad to hear this one.

Eta: Rocky had calf muscles that would make Keiland Williams jelly.

Etaa: just scrolled his instagram page of pics and messages people posted of him. It seems he was an immensely loved guy, there is no telling what led to this.

It can be any holiday really. No one wants to feel alone this time of year. The June after losing your pops or the May after losing mom. It seems as though I'm perpetually single this time of year. It's tough feeling like you're missing out on something. I could see where that, coupled with depression, could lead to spikes in these sorts of incidents

It's been a rough day. Rocky was a true friend of the family. Knowing the kind of person he was, never in a million years did I think he would reach a fate like this.

RIP Rocky

The Franchise - No doubt about what you're saying. It's easy to say to address someone you think is battling depression but how many of us really do? Who wants to get involved in such ugliness, right? The depressed person realizes this, too. In turn, it sort of perpetuates the spiral.

Lost my brother the day after Easter 2015. My father is on the board of a suicide prevention and awareness org. He's going to DC next year with a group to advocate more funding/programs for mental illness.
Unfortunately mental illness isn't given the attention it needs. Hate hear these types of things. Hope everyone on the board has a great holiday season. Spend time with family and don't take it for granted.

Very sad day

I was fortunate enough to be teammates with both Rocky and Nick.

Easily two of the most fierce competitors I have ever known.
