I have known several men who took their own life. These men had financial stability and a support group if wonderful people. They did not reach out because of the shame associated with the pain they were carrying inside.

Depression is no one's fault. Sadness can happen anytime but especially during the holidays and the winter months. I have been through depression and seasonal affective disorder . The best thing to do is to talk to someone. Make a first step to reach out. It's ok to cry even if you are a man. Stress and anxiety and loneliness can make one depressed and lethargic . There are new ways to help alleviate depression and cognitive behavioral therapy shows promising results too. It's not your fault. Feel what you feel but know others have experienced depression and made it to the other side. Don't ever give up.

MottLaneKid - interesting stuff.
I lost my Mom 3 years ago. Many of us lose loved ones. However, she was the final living blood relative I had left on the planet. I can't even begin to describe this emotion. It's far lower than the bottom. My wife battled fertility issues for a long time until she was forced to have a hysterectomy. So, no kids for us. I will spend my entire life never seeing a birth in my bloodline.
I talked to folks about it - more so just after my Mom died. As time goes by it's pretty obvious it repels people away because they don't really understand the matter or how to handle it. Time does not heal something like this. If I didn't know Jesus and not have the strong Louisiana woman I have there'd be a strong chance Scelfo and I would be recent friends.

Tough time of year for any family to lose any family member regardless of the reason.

God help us all...
