I get your point, but you are splitting hairs. It's not about RJF's intent, it is about public perception. It is stupid to make such comments to the media because people are going to take it negatively. Nothing good comes from it and it can become a distraction. Imagine what will be said should we really injure Tebow Saturday night.
We can live without this crap.

Has anyone from The Advocate (Or TD) asked RJF about these comments? There are three sides to every story.
Sorry I was sarcastic earlier. I do agree with you in that I'm sure the reporter "baited" RJF to get some juicy quotes. But still, seems like RJF would know better than to say some of those things. I would love to hear his side of the story though. I'm sure something will come out later today or tomorrow, since it has apparently made national news.

RJF better show up.
He needs to back up the talk

You're and idiot and a Gump, but lets not get into that.
No one except for some Florida Homer Reporter heard these quotes. It is likely all bullshite. We didn't hear RJF, we heard a homer say that RJF said these things.
I'll start a blog and make up some quotes that Gaytors said.

One of the goals of as a defensive player should be to hit the opposition so hard they "go wobbly" and have to make their way to the sideline in a punch-drunk stupor. That's football.
One of his goals is not, however, to say a fricking word about it to the media. I hope he knocks snot bubbles out of Tebow, just keep your fricking mouth shut about it. Do you understand what I am saying? Actions, no talk.

exactly. if he comes out and has a HUGE game, then this is all a mute point.

I can't believe the direction this thread has taken.

That's what a poster on here said. Maybe it was on the SEC Rant. Said he was pissed because ESPN quoted RJF but left out the part where he gave Tebow some props.

This is not pot, meet kettle you mental midget.
Taking a clean shot a quarterback is not the same as an intentional illegal block on someone's knees. Not the same at all.

and I am sure that they left out that it was from a FLORIDA GATOR SOURCE.

I expect this to turn into "RJF said he wants to rape Tim Tebow's mom" by the time this is all done.
The internet is great for distorting the truth and that includes a blog by some d-bag in Florida. Hell, half the people in this thread think RJF wants to end Tebow's career.

This is a completely different argument than was made previously. I was speaking to the intent of the player. You have to be delusional to think RJF wants to injure Tim Tebow; however, your point regarding the public relations issue is well taken.

I agree 100%. Again, I was not apeaking to anything other than the intent of the player.

And I agree with you on that. Make them not even want to come back on the field.

If another player said they wanted to take Charles scott out of the game then whatever. I wouldnt blame them IF they did it on a clean shot.
Chaz ramsey was not a clean shot, RJF even said it's hard to get a good clean shot on Tebow, I really don't think he wants to cheat his way into hurting Tebow. If it happens legally within the course of the game, so be it.
I expect the other team to treat us the same way.
He shouldn't have said it. But all he said is what every football player in America (especially on defense) is thinking.

Doesn't matter what he really meant, it only matters what the Florida players think he meant...and I think 100% of people will agree they will think he meant cheap shot him. That's not good no matter how you Kimbo it.

I also maintain that if they need something like this to get fired up for this game then they shouldn't be on the football team in the first place.
The only ones concerned about this whole debacle are our fans, their fans, and the media. In the end, it's probably blown out of proportion which is why he should have been more responsible in the first place.

If he did say it, then he made a mistake. Let's try to remember he is a college kid excited about a huge football game. He may have regretted what he said immediately, but it was too late. We all know he isn't a dirty player. Now he will go out and show that he isn't, and hopefully, it will be forgotten as a stupid thing to say out of emotion, and not meant the way it was taken. We shouldn't crucify him, or let anyone else do so.
